Job Title: Production Operator

Operations Location: Peru, IL 

GENERAL DESCRIPTION This position is directly responsible for the production of intermediates and products. In addition, this position is responsible for the general maintenance of the equipment and plant. 

This position reports to the Director of Operations. 

RESPONSIBILITIES 

1. Operates production equipment to generate intermediates and products.
2. Batch ingredients in tanks using pumps, lift trucks and hoists to produce products. Measure, load and mix ingredients in blenders and mixing tanks using scales and flow meters to make intermediates and products. 
3. Monitor instrumentation and process conditions (pH, temperature, pressure, motor amperage, etc.) and interpret information to evaluate the performance of the process. Make equipment adjustments as necessary to maintain process conditions in specified ranges. 
4. Package finished product into appropriate containers and prepare for shipment.
5. Perform various analytical tests such as pH, density and solids content to monitor reaction progress. 
6. Follow safe work practices and maintain the plant in a safe, clean and orderly condition. Clean equipment as necessary to ensure reliable operation. 
7. Perform general maintenance on the production equipment to keep it in reliable operating condition. 
8. Perform other duties as assigned. 

SKILLS AND ABILITIES 

1. Basic math skills (addition, subtraction, division, multiplication, ratios, fractions and percentages). 
2. Ability to comprehend and follow written and verbal communications.
3. Ability to communicate clearly and accurately. 
4. Ability to draw basic conclusions based on available information. 
5. Ability to function in a group with minimal supervision. 
6. Ability to understand mechanical equipment in order to properly operate and maintain it. 
7. Ability to lift items weighing up to 60 pounds. 3-20-21 
8. Ability to drive a lift truck.
