Senior Project Coordinator - BRIDGE

The Child Health and Development Institute (CHDI) is an independent, non-profit organization located in Farmington, CT. CHDI is dedicated to improving the behavioral health and well-being of children in Connecticut and beyond by providing policymakers, providers, educators, and partners with a bridge to better and more equitable systems, practices, and policies. Our core initiative areas include system development and integration, evidence-based and best practice treatment dissemination, comprehensive school mental health, and data analysis & quality improvement. Primary strategic work activities include project coordination and management, data analysis, evaluation, quality improvement, research, consultation, training, technical assistance, and policy/system advocacy. 

CHDI is seeking a Senior Project Coordinator to work on a five-year grant awarded by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) to CHDI entitled Project BRIDGE (Building Recovery through Trauma-Informed Detection, Guidance, and Early Intervention). There are two main activities for Project BRIDGE:

• First, the project aims to improve child-serving staff’s capacity for early identification of children suffering from traumatic stress. This will be done through updates to online courses on trauma screening best practices; by expanding trauma screening resources to address populations and contexts in which guidance is limited, with an initial focus on developing an online course focused on children with intellectual and developmental disabilities; and through in-person and virtual trainings.
• Second, the project aims to develop and disseminate a very brief evidence-informed trauma intervention intended for any youth age 6-17 experiencing traumatic stress across a range of settings in the United States where traditional, long-term evidence-based treatments are not feasible or available. This will include developing training curricula, practice manuals, implementation resources, and an online course. Following this, the intervention will be disseminated through four Learning Communities and a train-the-trainer.

Position Description:

• Independently reviewing, synthesizing, and translating research to understand best practices in the field and inform project activities;
• Designing and coordinating data collection through surveys, focus groups, and interviews;
• Leading the development of synchronous and asynchronous trainings for the children’s behavioral health workforce in partnership with trainers and content experts;
• Leading or independently developing materials to support implementation (e.g., practice manuals, implementation resources);
• Building and maintaining collaborative relationships with national experts, state experts, families, and other stakeholders to ensure best practices and lived experiences are incorporated into training materials;
• Serving as a primary point of contact for partners, trainers, consultants, or participating organizations;
• Leading the development, testing, launch and ongoing improvement of engaging online training content within a learning management system to increase the knowledge and skills of the behavioral health workforce;
• Oversee the coordination of in-person and online trainings, including registration, managing CEUs, providing support for users, and administering surveys and assessments;
• Independently managing assigned project workstreams, workplans, timelines, and deliverables: monitoring progress and working with leadership to ensure all project deliverables and contract requirements are met on time;
• Planning, convening, and facilitating virtual and/or in-person team meetings;
• Supporting the planning and implementation of learning communities, train-the-trainer activities, consultation, and other workforce-development strategies;
• Independently monitoring and communicating progress toward deliverables at internal and external meetings;
• Working closely with other CHDI staff (Directors, Senior Associates, Project Coordinators, Data Analysts) to develop data collection, analysis, and reporting approaches, including producing high-quality data reports, and continuously improving implementation processes;
• Maintaining data and records necessary to complete required grantee reports;
• Synthesizing and communicating findings, in written and verbal formats, to internal/external stakeholders, including project reports, CHDI publications, and/or peer-reviewed publications;
• Representing CHDI in related committees, workgroups, and internal/external meetings with partners;
• Contributing to other aspects of the initiative and CHDI’s work, including administrative and operational support as needed.

Position Requirements:

• Bachelor’s Degree (Master’s Degree preferred) in psychology, public health, public policy, social work, education, child development, or a closely related field;
• Experience delivering evidence-based practices and trauma treatment to children is strongly preferred;
• Knowledge of and/or lived experience with the children’s behavioral health system;
• Experience and demonstrated success leading partnership development, project coordination, program implementation, and/or project management;
• Demonstrated ability to identify appropriate data sources, interpreting and utilizing data for program development and/or quality improvement activities;
• Strong writing and synthesis skills, including the ability to translate research, data, and technical content into clear and accessible materials for varied audiences;
• Experience using design programs (e.g., Canva) to develop slideshows, infographics, briefs, etc.;
• Experience developing or managing online asynchronous trainings preferred;
• Experience with data collection through surveys, focus groups, and/or interviews;
• Demonstrated ability to independently manage competing priorities, maintain attention to detail, meet deadlines, and collaborative effectively with teams;
• Excellent interpersonal, communication, writing, and time management skills;
• Proficiency with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and other software applications (e.g., Alchemer, Zoom, Microsoft Teams).
• Additional skills and experience that are preferred, but not required, include: grant writing; scholarly publication and research reports; online survey tools; and data visualization tools.

Compensation & Benefits:

• Compensation Range: $70K-$77K
• Benefits offered to employees in this role include: A 403b retirement plan with company contribution of up to 10%; CHDI pays 85% of medical/dental insurance premiums including dependents; 9 paid holidays, up to 22 paid time off days, additional paid sick time off, and more.
