What We’re Looking For GNC’s Store Manager in Training (SMIT) is a development‑focused role designed to prepare an individual to manage their own store. Under the guidance of a Store Manager or District Manager, this hands‑on program teaches the skills and knowledge to successfully operate a store, drive results, and lead a team. What You’ll Do This is a full‑time hourly supervisory position that fast‑tracks you to management. You will learn to lead, coach, and support your team while overseeing daily store operations, business performance, and product management. You’ll represent the GNC brand, offer expert product knowledge, and promote the “Live Well” message to customers. Engage with your leader in training initiatives and projects to support your promotion path. Support the total shopping experience, including visual and operational elements, sales initiatives, and the customer relationship that drives sales and repeat business (e.g., MYGNC Rewards). Achieve and exceed personal sales and productivity goals while helping associates realize their sales potential. Build strong teams, demonstrate leadership, and manage performance, including giving feedback, recruiting, hiring, and ongoing performance management. Open, close, and operate the retail facility, including cash handling, inventory counts, and deposits per GNC procedures. Attend community fairs, conferences, meetings, and public gatherings to promote the organization’s mission and initiatives. Selection for the SMIT position does not guarantee promotion to Store Manager. After 90 days, performance will be evaluated to determine eligibility for promotion, considering factors such as performance, available openings, and willingness to relocate. Environmental Factors & Working Schedule Must be able to stand or walk up to eight hours a day. Frequent reaching, bending, and twisting below waist and above shoulders. Repetitive hand‑to‑finger motions and reach with hands and arms. Frequently lift up to twenty pounds, occasionally up to forty pounds. Push/pull up to twenty pounds. Ability to climb ladders, reach and bend. Work in temperatures ranging from 50 to 85 degrees, especially in stock room areas. Use a computer up to 60% of the time. SMITs work five days per week, 40 hours. Scheduling varies by location: Mall and strip‑center SMITs: at least two nights during the week until closing, one weekend night, one other night; strip‑center SMITs also work a full shift on Saturdays; mall SMITs work peak business days including weekends. Minimum one full Sunday per month. Downtown SMITs work lunch hour (11 am–2 pm) Monday–Friday and one night per week until closing if the store is open in the evening; not required to work Saturdays. Worked on all major U.S. holidays when the store is open. This store is located on a military base and participates in the Health Wellness Welfare program.
