Certified Nursing Assistant

Provides safe, competent nursing care for patients in accordance with facility policies, standards, and philosophy. Provides support to the healthcare team. The concepts of Patient Centered Care will provide the foundation for all nursing care.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

• Provide great patient care.
• Answer patient calls and determining how best to help them.
• Provide physical support for patients or residents with daily activities and personal hygiene, including bathing, dressing, getting out of bed, - using the toilet, walking, standing, or exercising.
• Turn and reposition bedridden patients.
• Ensure patients or residents receive appropriate diet by reviewing their dietary restrictions, food allergies, and preferences.
• Obtain a wide range of information from physicians, caregivers, and nurses about patient conditions, treatment plans, and suggested activities.
• Measure and recording food and liquid intake and urinary and fecal output and reporting changes to medical or nursing staff.
• Record vital signs, including blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and respiration rate as requested by staff.
• Examine patients to detect issues requiring medical care, including open wounds, bruises, or blood in the urine.
• Note observations of patient behavior, including complaints, or physical symptoms to nurses.
• Stay up to date on CNA training and facility policy and procedure.
• Other duties as assigned.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

• High School diploma or equivalent
• State Certified Nursing Assistant Certification
• At least one year of recent work experience as a Certified Nursing Assistant
• BLS and other required specialty certifications as required by the client.
• Must successfully pass any pre-employment assessment(s) required by the client.
• Effective communication skills, both verbal and written
• Effective interpersonal skills
• Ability to maintain confidentiality.
• Ability to adapt to multiple and changing priorities.
• Fundamental computer skills and keyboard familiarity
• Demonstrated communication, organization and critical thinking skills.
• Knowledge of medical terminology

Unit Details:

Uniform: Scrubs. Can wear any brightly colored or printed scrubs. (No dark colors) Must wear shoes that are closed toe and closed back. The shoe must be solid throughout and have no holes in it. (No crocs) Sneakers are perfect! Fingernails should not be excessively long. No dangling or chunky jewelry. Long hair must be pulled back.
