Summary Performs new installation, minor repairs, or rebuilds of equipment. Performs preventative maintenance on all equipment. Must be able to respond to emergency maintenance requests and calls. Maintain an excellent safety record, housekeeping, and personal conduct. Good interpersonal skills, highly proficient in use of general hand tools and power tools. Perform safe work practices or accepted industry standards of safe work. A team player and self-starter who can properly plan and execute work. Essential Duties Maintain accurate and timely work records, and complete paperwork daily. General upkeep of all tools and equipment used by maintenance staff to perform work at facilities. Develop a collaborative relationship with all departments. Demonstrates knowledge of basic physical/mechanical principles and craft math. Proficient in general work involving hand tools, power tools, and torquing equipment. Participate in reliability programs, predictive maintenance programs, and Management of Change processes. Basic understanding of the characteristics of metals and knowledge about the various types and applications of lubricants. Understand bearings, seals, compressors, pumps, pipe configurations, shaft packing, and drive systems. Must be able to interpret P&IDS, drawings, schematics, cut sheets, pump, and blower curves. Coupling Alignment – laser or dial measurement. Gearboxes. Precision measurement tools. Crane and Hoist operation – pneumatic, electric. Proficiencies Coupling Alignment - laser or dial measurement Couplers - shim pack, jaw type, elastomeric, etc. Pumps ANSI /API – centrifugal, diaphragm, positive displacement Valves – gate, globe, ball, butterfly, etc. Gearboxes Fans & Blowers – centrifugal, lobe, etc. Seals – labyrinth, lip, mechanical, rope packing, etc. Precision measurement tools Crane and Hoist operation – pneumatic, electric Coolers – tube & shell, plate frame, fin fan, etc. Agitators & Mixers – shear, prop, shaker, etc. Requirements A strong background in troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair of various rotating equipment. Ability to read, write, and comprehend instructions and work orders in English. Basic computer skills. Physical Demands The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds unassisted and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds assisted. Must be able to work with all types of electrical equipment and tools. The duties of this job require a person to stoop, bend, work from a kneeling position, climb ladders and work in high areas up to 130 feet, work in dark areas and work in confined spaces after being trained to do so. The noise level in the work environment is occasionally loud. Must be able to wear respiratory protective equipment. Work Environment While performing the duties of this job, the employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts and in inclement weather conditions during various hours of the day/night. Is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, risk of electrical shock and vibration. Normal Work Hours Normal work hours are Monday – Friday, 10 hour shifts. Rotating on‑call weekends required. The hours and days of work are established by departmental needs and subject to change at the discretion of management.
