DAS Project Lead - Telecom & Field Operations

As Boingo’s Project Manager you’ll take charge of projects to fulfill our agreements with a variety of venues. You’ll manage the implementation of monopole, guyed tower, rooftop and small cell projects from initiation to successful rollover to O&M phase. Work closely with site owners, general contractors, managers, cellular carrier reps, and your Boingo colleagues. You’ll manage the daily direction of all project-related activities that pertain to our agreements with cellular carriers and venue managers. (e.g., airport authorities, building management, municipalities, etc.) This role is based on-site at Newark Airport (EWR), with occasional travel to our Rockefeller Center office, as well. Responsibilities Team-lead responsibility for the design, construction, test, and launch of monopole, guyed tower, rooftop, small cell and iDAS systems. Review executed Host Agency contracts, Carrier Agreements, contractors and subcontracts – related to monopole and construction and commissioning. Prepare Project Plans and set up project teams; work and coordinate with the NYC based PM team Manage and coordinate day to day construction activities related to all on-site implementation and operations work in accordance with agreements, contracts and project plans Work directly with host facility representatives to establish and maintain cooperative relationships Support the discovery, review, and evaluation of all potential service sub-contractors Follow Program Control’s Project Tracking and Reporting Process, including Program & Project Review Presentations Establish Preventative & Emergency Maintenance Plans On-site management of all Boingo field personnel, contractors & subcontractors Coordinate and oversee of all project management work schedules and weekly look-a-heads Manage all coordination effort between Host Agency Project Managers and General Contractors, various trade labor contractors, engineering firms, etc. Serve as the first contact for contract compliance Coordinate and oversee all acceptance testing Work directly with vendors in areas of documentation, spares, support, upgrades, commissioning, ATP and maintenance Requirements 7+ years of project management experience in wireless telecommunications infrastructure. Hands-on experience leading monopole, self-support, guyed tower, rooftop, and small cell projects from site acquisition through construction and closeout. Strong working knowledge of tower design, structural modifications, foundations, equipment installations, tower builds, collocations, upgrades, and decommissioning. Experience coordinating with engineering firms, general contractors, tower owners, utilities, municipalities, wireless carriers, subcontractors, and internal teams to keep work moving. Familiarity with permitting, zoning, FAA/FCC requirements, environmental compliance, structural analysis reports, geotechnical reports, tower mapping, and construction drawings. Proven ability to manage schedules, budgets, risks, stakeholder communications, and multiple concurrent projects with focus and follow-through. Solid project management fundamentals and proficiency with tools such as MS Project, Smartsheet, Salesforce, or similar platforms. Professional, collaborative communicator who can work directly with senior leaders while managing diverse subcontractor and employee groups. Moderate knowledge of RF distribution systems and fiber optic systems. Ability to pass a 10-year FBI background check to obtain a SIDA badge. Preferred Qualifications Experience delivering projects for major wireless carriers - AT&T, Verizon, T-Mobile, or Dish. Knowledge of TIA-222 standards and tower construction best practices. PMP certification or similar project management credential. Civil, structural, or telecommunications engineering project experience. The starting pay range for this position is $104,650 to $131,100 per year. The pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge and experience, among other factors.
