We are seeking a full-time Quality Assurance (QA) Supervisor on 2nd Shift to oversee the daily operations of the QA Department, ensuring all products are manufactured safely and in compliance with USDA, FSIS, HACCP, SSOP, GMP, BRC, customer specifications, and company quality standards. This position provides guidance and leadership to QA Technicians and Inspectors while working closely with Production, Maintenance, Sanitation, and Operations to ensure food safety and product quality throughout the manufacturing process. This position reports to the QA Manager. The ideal candidate will have previous safety experience in poultry processing, food manufacturing, production, warehousing, or a similar industrial environment. This salaried, exempt role is based at our Gainesville, Georgia plant, and starting pay will be between $1,057.70 and $1,211.54/week ($55,000 and $63,000/year) based on experience. This role is not eligible for overtime. Essential Duties & Responsibilities - Food Safety & Quality- Supervise daily Quality Assurance operations during assigned shift (2nd shift).
- Ensure compliance with USDA, FSIS, HACCP, SSOP, GMP, BRC, customer requirements, and company policies.
- Monitor production to ensure products meet customer specifications.
- Verify CCPs, preventive controls, and quality checks are completed accurately and on time.
- Conduct product evaluations including weight, dimensions, appearance, packaging, labeling, temperature, and foreign-material inspections.
- Ensure proper implementation of product hold and release procedures.
- Investigate quality deviations and implement corrective actions.
- Verify sanitation effectiveness before production begins.
- Review environmental monitoring and microbiological testing results when applicable.
- Participate in internal, customer, and regulatory audits.

- Assist during USDA verification activities.

- Supervise QA Technicians and QA Inspectors.
- Schedule daily QA assignments.
- Train and mentor QA personnel.
- Conduct performance evaluations and coaching.
- Promote accountability and continuous improvement.
- Ensure proper shift handoff communication.
- Review and verify completion of:
- HACCP records
- SSOP records
- Pre-operational inspections
- Operational inspections
- Temperature monitoring
- Metal detector/X-ray verification
- Weight verification
- Foreign material inspections
- Calibration records
- Product hold logs
- Customer specification verification
- Corrective Action Reports
- Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs)
- Lead investigations involving:
- Customer complaints
- Foreign material findings
- Product defects
- Short weights
- Packaging issues
- Labeling errors
- Food safety deviations
- Regulatory non-compliance
- Identify root causes and implement effective corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
- Identify opportunities to improve quality systems.
- Analyze quality trends and KPIs.
- Assist with SOP development and revisions.
- Support new product introductions.
- Participate in process improvement initiatives.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED.
- Ability to hear, speak, read, and comprehend communication in English.
- Authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.
- Strong communication, leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- At least three years of food manufacturing experience.
- Minimum of three years of QA experience in food manufacturing.
- Working knowledge of:
- USDA/FSIS Regulations
- HACCP
- GMPs
- SSOPs
- BRCGS Food Safety Standard
- Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA)
- Microbiology fundamentals
- Statistical Process Control (SPC)
- Root Cause Analysis
- Corrective Action processes
- Customer specification management
- Good computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, or similar programs.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and overtime when required.
- Strong attention to detail and follow-through.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong commitment to employee safety and regulatory compliance.
- Evening, weekend, and holiday work hours may be required.
- Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Poultry Science, Biology, Microbiology, or related field.
- HACCP Certification.
- Previous experience in poultry or meat processing.
- One or more years of direct supervision experience.
- Bilingual English-Spanish communication skills.
- CPR, First Aid, and/or OSHA certification.
This role is performed at a poultry further-processing plant and requires regular time on the production floor. The work environment may include refrigerated, wet, noisy, fast-paced, and production areas. The role requires walking production floors, climbing stairs, accessing equipment areas, wearing required PPE, and supporting multiple shifts as needed.
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Ability to bend, reach, climb stairs, and lift up to 40 pounds.
- Ability to work in refrigerated workrooms.
- Ability to climb stairs and access production equipment.
- Ability to work around moving machinery and production equipment.
- Regular exposure to cold, wet, noisy, and fast-paced working conditions.
- Possible exposure to cleaning chemicals, raw poultry, and strong odors.
- Must wear required personal protective equipment and follow all safety and sanitation requirements.
