A Little Journey Montessori School is looking for a wonderful teacher to join our team! The ideal candidate for this position is someone who is consistent and reliable, loves working with others and young children, adaptable and flexible to changing circumstances and environments. Can take charge of classroom management and work alongside other teachers and show leadership qualities with both the children and other teachers. This is an amazing opportunity for those interested in a career in Montessori and/or early childhood teaching and education. We are looking to hire a qualified teacher for this licensed childcare facility.

We are open 8:00 am to 4:00 pm Monday through Friday and are a year-round program. A work schedule would vary within these hours, with the possibility of 30 minutes on either end for opening or closing chores. We do have a Nido (infant), Pre-Primary (toddler), and Primary (preschool) classroom within our school but this particular position is for our primary (preschool) classroom.

Job Description:

• Plan and implement Montessori curriculum and philosophy with lesson and circle prep.
• Prepare and maintain a Montessori environment.
• Use positive reinforcement to help create a calm, respectful environment.
• Assess and record child progress through observation and documentation.
• Present lessons individually, small group, and large group - making sure children are being challenged appropriately.
• Communicate with parents and coworkers in a positive and respectful manner.
• Facilitate parent-teacher conferences twice a year.
• Remain up to date on ECP and with continuing education.
• Training and supervision of new assistant teachers that come into your classroom.
• Classroom management of children.
• Assist children with using the potty and changing accidents as necessary.
• Supervise young children inside and outside.
• Cleaning up after children and doing light chores throughout the day.
• Assisting children with their needs.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Montessori Certification Preferred.
• Experience caring for children, especially ages 2.5 to 5 years old.
• A passion for working with young children.
• Great at working as a team and with others.
• A friendly nature, patience, and love for children.
• Good organization and communication skills.

REQUIREMENTS:

• Montessori Certification.
• Hands-on infant, Child, and Adult CPR/First Aid certification is required within 30 days of hire.
• Must pass a criminal background check for state licensing requirements.
• Verification of Immunizations (MMR and Tdap).
• Training courses for state licensing requirements within 30 and 90 days of hire.

SALARY: Pay is DOE starting at $18.50/hour.
