Mechanical Project Manager

We are seeking a Mechanical Engineer with strong HVAC knowledge to manage technical projects and support customers throughout Colorado’s Front Range.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys solving mechanical system challenges, improving building efficiency, and working with high-performance HVAC equipment. Candidates with a consulting engineering background are especially well suited, particularly those who have designed commercial HVAC systems and coordinated with architects and other engineering disciplines.

Experience with HVAC controls, equipment manufacturers, or manufacturer representative firms may also translate well when paired with a strong understanding of building operation, psychrometrics, and mechanical systems.

The position is primarily remote and can be based between Colorado Springs, Denver, and Fort Collins. Travel to project sites, customer meetings, and the office typically ranges from approximately 15–40% depending on project needs.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage multiple HVAC projects from early planning through completion.
• Review mechanical plans, schedules, specifications, and equipment requirements.
• Evaluate HVAC equipment selections and confirm they are appropriate for each application.
• Coordinate technical questions and project issues with engineers, contractors, vendors, and manufacturers.
• Prepare and review submittals, equipment data, shop drawings, pricing, and other project documentation.
• Assist with HVAC equipment selection, application, and system performance questions.
• Review control strategies and mechanical system operation when required.
• Participate in jobsite visits and customer meetings.
• Keep projects organized, documented, and moving within required timelines.
• Provide responsive technical support and build strong working relationships with clients.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• 4+ years of relevant HVAC or mechanical engineering experience.
• Strong knowledge of commercial HVAC systems and building mechanical design.
• Understanding of psychrometrics, heat transfer, and HVAC system operation.
• Ability to read mechanical construction documents and technical specifications.
• Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to manage several active projects at the same time.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and AutoCAD.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation for local project travel.

Preferred Qualifications

• Mechanical consulting experience designing HVAC systems for buildings.
• Experience developing mechanical drawings and project specifications.
• Background coordinating with architects, electrical engineers, plumbing engineers, and other design professionals.
• HVAC controls experience with a strong understanding of complete building system operation.
• Experience with an HVAC manufacturer or manufacturer representative.
• PE license, EIT certification, or FE completion.
• Energy modeling or building performance experience.
