Electrical Engineer - Kiewit Nuclear Solutions Location: Oak Ridge, TN or Lenexa, KS, US Position Overview Electrical Design Engineers with a mid-level engineering capacity perform all aspects of conventional and nuclear design engineering. The role requires practical engineering aptitude, self‑directed learning, strong leadership skills, and willingness to travel periodically. Responsibilities Conduct and review detailed AC/DC calculations using ETAP (load flow, short circuit, voltage drop, arc‑flash, motor starting, protection, and relay coordination). Design Development Prepare scoping documents and perform constructability reviews. Prepare electrical drawings, including single lines, three lines, schematics, and wiring diagrams. Design and review lighting, communications, and security systems. Develop and review equipment specifications. Participate in bid evaluations and manage vendor Q&A tracking. Coordinate with multidisciplinary engineering teams. Engage with clients and implementation personnel. Travel : Visit client/vendor offices and plant sites for design reviews and construction coordination. Qualifications Education : Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET‑accredited program. Experience : 7–10+ years in electrical system design for industrial or nuclear power plant projects. Technical Skills Proficient in selecting equipment and materials. Experienced in preparing engineering design packages, calculations, and specifications. Skilled in designing low‑ and medium‑ voltage distribution systems (transformers, generators, motors, relays). Soft Skills Strong written and verbal communication. Highly detail‑oriented. Licensure : PE license or ability to obtain.
