Summary You will serve as a HYDROLOGIST . This position is located within the Department of the Interior, Bureau of Reclamation, Mid Pacific Region, Water Operations Division, KLAMATH FALLS,OREGON You may be required to travel overnight away from home up to 2-3 nights per month. You must obtain a government charge card for travel purposes. GS-12 Salary: $89,508 (step1) to $116,362 (step 10). First time hires to the Federal government normally start at the step 1 rate. Learn more about this agency Duties Help Some of the major duties you will perform include but are not limited to the following:
- Lead complex hydrologic investigations from planning through analysis, modeling, and reporting.
- Conduct advanced hydrologic and water resource analyses to support management and regulatory decisions.
- Serve as the area office hydrology subject matter expert on water policy, regulations, and water rights.
- Develop project plans, technical reports, and recommendations while coordinating with internal and external partners
- Oversee data collection, modeling, and stakeholder collaboration to inform water resource management.
- Participate in meetings and other outreach efforts with stakeholders on major efforts such as ESA consultation, Project supply, flood control, fish or bird disease outbreaks, and operational modifications.

- A. Degree: physical or natural science, or engineering that included at least 30 semester hours in any combination of courses in hydrology, the physical sciences, geophysics, chemistry, engineering science, soils, mathematics, aquatic biology, atmospheric science, meteorology, geology, oceanography, or the management or conservation of water resources. The course work must have included at least 6 semester hours in calculus (including both differential and integral calculus), and at least 6 semester hours in physics. Calculus and physics, as described above, are requirements for all grade levels. You must submit transcripts.
- B. Combination of education and experience: course work as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education.
- Specialized Experience Requirement: you must possess at least one full year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level in the Federal service (obtained in either the public or private sectors). Specialized experience is defined as demonstrated experience: Examples of such experience include planning and executing complex hydrologic studies, which usually involve intensive investigations into recognized phenomena. This work typically involves conventional methods & techniques though it requires going beyond clear precedents and requires adapting methods to the problems at hand and interpreting findings in terms of their scientific significance. At this level, Hydrologists have a very good knowledge of the principles of hydrology and their application, and the ability to independently perform scientific work of considerable difficulty, and communicate results to stakeholders. You must include hours per week worked.
