Speech Pathologist- Acute Care

Position Summary The SLP provides diagnostic and therapeutic interventions for speech, language, voice, swallow, and fluency disorders. They evaluate the needs of assigned patients, establish goals with the patient, and plan and conduct treatment. They effectively interact with patients, families, and health care team members across the life span, from pediatrics to geriatrics. Responsibilities Assess, plan, treat, evaluate, and implement POC on patient population as assigned. Demonstrate understanding of admission process, treatment costs, financial support, and appropriate billing practices under ASHA standards and the SLP Practice Act of IL. Maintain superior work ethics, professional image, and dress. Collaborate with physicians. Provide supportive supervision of SLP students. Promote a clean and safe environment of care using SAFE error prevention habits. Provide the highest standard of privacy and confidentiality in matters involving patients, coworkers, and the hospital by abiding by the Standards of Conduct. Complete documentation of all patient care activities in a timely manner in the electronic medical record. Develop professional skills through development plans, continuing education, and in-service offerings, keeping current with advancements in the field. Communicate with other health care professionals and establish therapeutic relationships with patients and families. Uphold professional standards and responsibilities by achieving service competence and applying evidence‑based interventions to promote quality in practice. Work rotation on Saturdays and Sundays as applicable. Required Qualifications Master’s or Doctorate degree from an accredited college or university. Current CPR certification. Current license as a speech‑language pathologist from the State of Illinois. Work Shift Details Days – First Shift, Days 8‑4:30. Part‑time 24 hours a week.
