School Nurse

School Registered NurseLiberty Local Schools is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Registered Nurse (RN) to join our team. The RN will play a key role in promoting student health, providing direct nursing care, and collaborating with school staff, parents, and community resources to foster a healthy school environment. This position involves a range of responsibilities, including health assessments, health education, and emergency care.Key Responsibilities:Assess and monitor the health needs of students, conducting regular health screenings and evaluations.Provide direct nursing care to students with chronic illnesses, injuries, and acute health needs.Develop and implement individual healthcare plans in collaboration with students, families, and healthcare providers.Administer medications and treatments as prescribed, ensuring compliance with legal and ethical standards.Maintain accurate and confidential health records and documentation in accordance with state and federal regulations.Educate students and staff on health-related issues, including nutrition, hygiene, and disease prevention.Serve as a liaison between students, families, and healthcare resources, offering guidance and support.Respond to medical emergencies and provide first aid as necessary, including activating emergency response protocols.Participate in health promotion activities and initiatives within the school community.Collaborate with school staff to create a safe and healthy school environment, addressing health-related issues promptly.Qualifications:Valid and active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Ohio.Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BSN) preferred; Associate degree in Nursing (ADN) acceptable.Previous nursing experience, preferably in a school or pediatric setting, is desirable.Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with students, families, and staff.Ability to work independently and as part of a team, demonstrating strong organizational skills and attention to detail.Knowledge of child development, health issues in school-aged children, and relevant laws/regulations pertaining to school health services.Current certification in CPR and First Aid.Physical Requirements:Ability to stand, walk, and engage with students and staff for extended periods.Additional Information:The employee shall remain free of any alcohol or nonprescribed controlled substance in the workplace throughout his/her employment in the district.
