Job Summary

A nonprofit charitable organization in Los Angeles, CA is seeking an experienced Accountant for a temp-to-hire opportunity supporting financial operations, grant tracking, and reporting functions. This Accountant role is ideal for a detail-oriented accounting professional who enjoys mission-driven work, accurate financial reporting, and contributing to an organization with meaningful community impact.

This position works closely with finance leadership and cross-functional teams in a collaborative, supportive environment. The role offers the opportunity to apply nonprofit accounting knowledge, strengthen grant management experience, and support important financial processes that help the organization operate effectively and responsibly.

Key Responsibilities

- Maintain accurate financial records, supporting documentation, journal entries, reconciliations, and general ledger transactions.
- Support accounts payable, accounts receivable, expense tracking, payment processing, and payroll-related documentation.
- Track grant funding, contracts, restricted funds, and related reporting requirements to support compliance.
- Assist with budget preparation, financial reporting, and monitoring of expenses and funding sources.
- Reconcile bank accounts, credit cards, and balance sheet accounts while supporting month-end and year-end close.
- Prepare documentation for audits, grant reviews, financial reports, and internal compliance needs.

Compensation and Benefits

- Pay: $32.00 to $35.00 per hour.
- Job Type: Temp-to-hire.
- Location: Los Angeles, CA.

Required Qualifications and Skills

- Support nonprofit financial operations, accounting transactions, and general ledger activity.
- Track grants, contracts, restricted funds, and related reporting requirements.
- Assist with month-end close, reconciliations, audits, and financial reporting.
- Partner with finance leadership and internal teams to ensure accurate coding, documentation, and compliance.

- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
- 3 to 5 years of accounting experience, preferably in a nonprofit environment.
- Experience with nonprofit accounting, grant tracking, restricted funds, and financial reporting.
- Proficiency with QuickBooks and Microsoft Excel.
- Strong understanding of account reconciliations, journal entries, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger processes.
- High attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to manage deadlines accurately.
- Professional communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with finance and non-finance teams.

Preferred Qualifications

- Experience supporting audits, grant reviews, and compliance documentation.
- Familiarity with personnel cost allocations and payroll-related accounting documentation.
- Prior experience working with charitable organizations, foundations, or grant-funded programs.
- Strong ability to improve accounting processes, maintain clean documentation, and support accurate financial decision-making.
