Court Advocate

Essential Duties and Responsibilities Using a trauma-informed, client-centered approach: Assess potential clients to identify needs and connect them with appropriate services. Provide intake, assessment, assistance with DVPO paperwork, case management, crisis intervention, safety planning, court education, information, and referrals as applicable. Provide courtroom support, accompaniment and outreach to survivors of intimate partner violence, sexual assault and child maltreatment. Assist clients with completing DVPO paperwork. Ensure coordinated client care with key community partners. Act with the client in mind and work to meet client needs and expectations to the extent possible. Facilitate support group(s). Administration Maintain confidential and accurate records of clients, stakeholders, interns, and volunteers in agency databases including CSN, Raiser's Edge and Timeforce. Research, write, and manage grant reporting and grantor relationships as assigned by supervisor. Adhere to agency and program procedures concerning documentation, critical incident reports, client satisfaction surveys, and participate in the quality assurance process. Translate Safe Alliance documents when applicable. Stewardship Increase awareness of victimization, prevention and available resources through public speaking and media requests as assigned by supervisor. Participate in community meetings and committees as assigned by supervisor. Promote and maintain professional relationships with agency staff, volunteers, interns, stakeholders and community partners. Professional Development Contribute to quality of services by staying informed of best practices, developments and trends in trauma and victimization, especially as it relates to intimate partner violence, sexual violence and child maltreatment. Maintain and develop skills and knowledge by attending training and ensuring licensure and certifications are up to date as needed for the job. Client focus. Initiative. Teamwork. Technical and professional knowledge and skills. Education and/or Work Experience Requirements High School Diploma, GED or equivalent experience. Preferred: experience working with victims or in human services. Spanish speaking preferred. Physical Requirements Light work: Exert up to 20 pounds occasionally or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly; lift, twist, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Ability for close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception and focus adjustment for task accuracy and thoroughness. Ability to reach, stand, crouch, walk, finger, grasp, sit, twist, talk, hear, and perform repeated motions.
