Environment, Health and Safety Engineer

We develop and manage Apple’s global real estate portfolio, lead all related capital construction projects, provide facilities and site services, develop and lead sustainability initiatives to reduce environmental impact, including commute and renewable energy programs, and support the health and safety of all personnel, facilities, and customers in our facilities worldwide. The Apple Environment, Health & Safety (EHS) team protects the environment, health, and safety of employees, contractors, customers, and the global communities where we operate. As a team member, you will be instrumental in program implementation, operational support, incident review and follow-up, and continuous improvement focused on Corporate operations (research and development, services, projects, maintenance, etc.) in Santa Clara Valley (SCV). We are seeking a skilled and collaborative EHS Operations professional to join our team as an EHS Engineer. The successful candidate will be focused on ensuring business groups receive an extraordinary level of service. They must be passionate about solving problems, possess excellent organizational skills, and communicate effectively with peers and external partners. They must have a proven track record of delivering high-quality results on time, taking ownership of issues and tasks with appropriate urgency, and evaluating data to help guide business decisions. Responsibilities Provide EHS support to various Corporate team operations and manage regulatory compliance obligations in Apple owned/operated facilities. Facilitate program coordination, perform building and lab inspections, support accident/incident investigations, schedule trainings and drills, and provide emergency response. Support and collaborate on food safety and sanitation procedures for Apple’s Caffè Macs retail restaurants and coffee bars; conduct routine food facility inspections to determine compliance with SOPs and state and local laws. Educate chefs during routine visits on food safety and internal policies and procedures. Coordinate various EHS programs including inspection scheduling, compliance databases, training, and evacuation drills. Manage EHS compliance in a portfolio of buildings including large scale food facilities. Manage EHS personal protective equipment system (budget, stock, vendor relationships). Report to the SCV EHS Operations Manager. Qualifications 5–8 or more years of professional EHS operations experience. BA/BS in an EHS-based degree or relevant experience. 5 or more years of food safety experience, preferably in a regulatory capacity and/or corporate setting. REHS preferred. Working knowledge of regulatory frameworks including Title 8 California Code of Regulations, California Fire and Building Codes, CalEPA (DTSC) rules/regulations, California Air Resources Board (CARB) and Bay Area Air Quality Management District (BAAQMD) rules/regulation, National Fire Protection Association and Workplace Consensus Standards (ANSI/ISO). Experience with physical safety, fire safety and emergency response, environmental and industrial hygiene program implementation. Experience managing budgets. Demonstrated success in managing multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced, high growth, results-driven environment.
