Job Title: Seasonal Lead Cold Weather Case Manager FLSA Status :Temporary, Full-Time - non-exempt Employment End Date: 04/30/2026 Reports to: Connection Center Program Manager Supervises: Seasonal Cold Weather Case Managers R ate of Pay : $28/hour Closing Date: 10/10/2026 Benefits :Temporary; Full-Time, Non-Exempt employees are eligible for but not limited to the following: Sick leave benefit – 1 day per month, 12 sick days per year (accrual and availability begins at hire; sick time accrual ispro-rated for part-time hours.) Position Summary The Seasonal Lead Cold Weather Case Manager position supports the provision of Coordinated Entry of social services in Colorado by providing information, referral, intake assessment, and emergency casework services over the phone, via email, and/or in person. The Cold Weather Team will be responsible for providing access to shelter during severe weather events in alignment with citywide severe weather policies. This will include expanding the hours of operation and/or operating an additional telephone line to provide additional access during severe weather events. This also includes working with HOST on a procedure to provide additional hours of operation and additional staff coverage during distinct weather events. Additionally, The Salvation Army will be responsible for providing on-site staffing at the Cold Weather sheltering location during activation, to include screening families for eligibility, providing rapid resolution services as appropriate, writing vouchers on the spot for cold weather, and completing HMIS intakes and data entry. The Lead will be responsible for scheduling the team during Cold Weather events and handling any on-site needs in partnership with Bayaud team. Duties and Responsibilities General Answers calls for information regarding cold weather shelter and other community resources. Focus on triaging, VISPDATs, and providing rapid resolution assistance, as needed. Schedule Cold Weather Case Managers shifts when cold weather events occur. Work with Bayaud team on-site for any situations. Enrolling families for cold weather vouchers and shelter waitlists. Provide financial assistance when appropriate. Documents calls accurately utilizing a computerized internal database. Record and track assistances in HMIS according to HUD standards. Completing all required assessments with households to determine program eligibility. Use active and compassionate communication skills. Use trauma informed care to deescalate upset individuals on the phone or in person. Assist supervisor with other special assignments and projects. Performs other duties as required. Education/Experience, Skills, Qualities, Requirements Education/Experience Bachelor’s or master’s degree in social work, or a related field, transcripts required Two years’ experience in providing casework services required Experience working with individuals from a variety of backgrounds and educational levels required Customer service experience preferred Working knowledge of integrated database applications preferred Skills Critical thinking Sound judgment and decision making Works well with a team Excellent oral and written communication Computer proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel Working knowledge of integrated database applications Able to use new software programs with basic training Qualities Must be highly motivated and a self-starter Supportive of The Salvation Army’s mission Able to reflect and model the high standards of our organization Requirements Driving The employee must be 21 years old at a minimum (for insurance provision) and possess a valid in-state driver’s license An MVR will be processed every year in accordance with The Salvation Army’s policies Continued employment will be contingent upon a biennial (every two years) background check that is processed in accordance with The Salvation Army’s policies Physical Ability to maneuver, to remain in a stationary position, to grasp, push, pull, and reach overhead, to lift 25 pounds, to access and produce information from the computer, to operate a telephone, to understand written information Qualified individuals must be able to perform the essential duties of the position with or without accommodation.
