A highly regarded, AAHA-accredited small animal practice in Fort Myers delivers high-quality veterinary care across general, urgent, emergency, and wellness services for all species. Fully equipped with an in-house pharmacy, lab diagnostics, and advanced imaging, the team is committed to excellence in care, client experience, and staff development.
Position Overview
We’re seeking an experienced, open-minded, and people-focused Medical Director to lead our veterinary team. This role combines clinical excellence with leadership responsibilities, guiding both patient care and hospital operations to ensure a thriving, high-functioning practice. The ideal candidate is as passionate about developing people as they are about practicing quality medicine.
Schedule & Structure
Open 6 days a week, closed on Sundays
DVMs work three 12-hour shifts weekly
1:1 DVM-to-technician ratio for strong support
Flexible scheduling for leadership duties and clinical work
Key Responsibilities
Provide high-quality, compassionate care to patients in both wellness and urgent care settings
Lead and mentor the veterinary team, fostering a collaborative and growth-focused environment
Partner with practice management on operational decisions, workflow improvements, and client service initiatives
Establish and maintain medical protocols, ensuring alignment with AAHA standards
Support recruitment, onboarding, and development of veterinary staff
Act as a primary point of contact for complex cases and client communications
Qualifications
Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM), licensed to practice in Florida
Proven leadership or supervisory experience in a veterinary setting
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a focus on client relations
Ability to balance clinical responsibilities with administrative leadership
Open-minded, flexible, and collaborative approach to challenges and opportunities
