Field Inspector

Location: Charlotte, North Carolina Duties and Responsibilities Perform moderately complex inspections; or supervise other inspectors conducting routine and standardized inspections. Inspect asphalt and concrete for acceptable materials and mix; pavement for proper spreading, rolling, depth, alignment and compaction; roadways and structures for conformance to plans/specifications, structural materials and members, placement of culverts and backfill; and traffic control and erosion control devices. May perform the more complex variety of calculations and computations. Perform contract documentation duties which includes field measurements of pay items as well as other client required documentation. Perform other related duties as assigned by management. Qualifications Considerable knowledge of materials, methods and equipment used in construction. Skill in use of computers and associated software. Ability to read, interpret and explain such documents as construction plans, contract provisions, specifications, and inspection procedures. Ability to take notes and prepare or review reports. Effective communication skills (written and oral) and ability to supervise to coordinate activities of lower-level employees and instruct them concerning proper work and documentation. Shall be licensed to operate vehicles in accordance with North Carolina law. Field Concrete Technician Certification a plus licensed to operate motor vehicles in accordance with North Carolina Law. High School Diploma or GED or an equivalent combination of training and directly related experience. North Carolina Soil & Water Conservation Commission (GSWCC) Level 1A Certification a preferred.
