Job Details Recreation Specialist IV – Driver – Hayward Area Recreation and Park District, Hayward, CA. Hourly rate: $29.06 – $39.22. Work schedule: up to 18 hours per week, typically evenings and weekends. Position type: part‑time, hourly. Responsibilities Safely tow and transport large district assets such as the rock wall, mobile stage, and giant LED screen. Support special events and “Get Outdoors” programming. Proactively inspect equipment and ensure safety standards before and after transport. Operate independently while contributing to a positive team environment. Qualifications Valid driver’s license with experience towing large trailers or heavy equipment assets. Proactive, safety‑first mindset with a positive, can‑do attitude. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Comfort working in dynamic, event‑driven environments. Availability on nights and weekends. Part‑time, year‑round, hourly, non‑exempt. Work location: Multiple sites within the District. Anticipated start date: ASAP. Not to exceed 960 hours per fiscal year (July 1 – June 30). Minimum Qualifications Must be 18 years or older. Completion of at least one year of college/university work with a specialization in recreation, physical education, group work, or a closely related field. One year of teaching or conducting groups or classes in the major fields of the assigned activity. Acceptable combination of education and experience. Special Requirements Knowledge of common outdoor and indoor sports and games and methods of playing them. Organizational skills for conducting individual group activities. Knowledge of rules and regulations for sports and games. Fundamental techniques of working and teaching handicrafts. Instruction in specialized classes such as special interest, dance, and fitness. Fundamentals of first aid and CPR. Abilities Organize and conduct individual and group activities. Train and supervise assistants. Work cooperatively with supervisors and other staff members. Follow oral and written instructions and accept responsibility. Read and draw blueprints and construction drawings.
