Job Title HVAC Technician II Position Summary Under general supervision, the HVAC II technician performs skilled technical work in the maintenance, repair, replacement, and installation of HVAC/R equipment. Responsibilities include furnaces, chillers, heat pumps, package units, split systems, controls, and distribution systems, as well as installing, maintaining, and repairing boilers, power plants, and stationary engines. Typical Duties Installs, troubleshoots, repairs, and maintains various mechanical and HVAC equipment. Cuts and bends tubing to correct length and shape. Utilizes skills in plumbing, mechanical, electrical, HVAC, and refrigeration systems. Observes pressure and vacuum gauges and adjusts controls to ensure proper operation. Tests joints and connections for gas leaks. Wraps pipes in insulation batting and secures them in place. Replaces defective controls, fuses, and electrical wiring to repair installed units. Tends to or fires one or more boilers to produce steam or high‑temperature water. Observes and interprets readings and gauges, meters, and charts to monitor boiler operation. Adjusts controls to ensure safe and efficient boiler operation and meets demands for steam or high‑temperature water. Maintains and records boiler maintenance and operation logs. Cleans, oils, makes minor repairs, or assists in repairing boiler‑room equipment. Follows prescribed methods to treat boiler water with chemicals. Follows prescribed methods to analyze boiler water for acidity, causticity, and alkalinity. Responds to emergency calls after normal work hours. Frequent travel between facilities is required. Ensures PRIDE safety policies and procedures are followed. Performs other duties and special projects as assigned. Denotes Essential Job Function. Minimum Qualifications Knowledge of and understanding of energy management controls systems. Three to five years of field experience servicing HVAC equipment. Ability to use industry hand and machine tools (e.g., vacuum pumps). Ability to read, interpret, and work from blueprints, schematics, and written instructions. Proficiency in electrical troubleshooting. Education Requirements Not applicable. Certificates or Licenses Required EPA Certification. R410A Safety. Valid Driver’s License. Physical Requirements Maneuvering to, in, and around equipment. Bending, kneeling, stooping, and reaching. Climbing step stools or ladders. Lifting and moving heavy equipment up to 35 pounds. Climbing ladders to gain access to rooftop equipment. Monitoring computer systems and control displays. Work Environment Work is performed at a customer’s location in office, shop, warehouse, or outdoor environment. May require driving to and from worksite locations. Equipment can be located in crawl spaces, rooftops, and outside facilities. Employees may be exposed to hazardous and/or toxic substances, electrical shock, noise from equipment, and depending on external weather conditions, wind, rain, cold, and heat.
