RN Operating Room Circulator

Job Summary:

The Registered Nurse (RN) in the Operating Room (OR) is responsible for circulating cases, assisting with turnover cleaning, transporting patients, and scheduling cases across various surgical specialties including General, Orthopedic, Vascular, Ophthalmic, Urology, ENT, Endoscopy, Robotic, Obstetrics, and Gynecology. The role requires collaboration with the surgical team, use of hospital systems such as EPIC, Pyxis, and Provation, and adherence to safety and procedural protocols. This position demands a minimum of 2 to 3 years of hospital circulating experience and a flexible schedule with on-call duties. Responsibilities:

• Circulate surgical cases independently across multiple specialties.
• Assist with turnover cleaning between cases to maintain OR efficiency.
• Transport patients as needed within the facility.
• Schedule surgical cases in coordination with the OR team.
• Utilize hospital electronic systems including EPIC, Pyxis, and Provation for documentation and medication management.
• Support the surgical team to ensure patient safety and compliance with protocols.
• Participate in call coverage and respond promptly to call-backs.
• Orient on day shift for up to one week or as directed by management.

Required Skills & Certifications:

• Active Registered Nurse license in the state of Hawaii.
• Minimum 2 to 3 years of circulating experience in a hospital OR setting.
• BLS certification.
• Ability to work with surgical equipment and hospital systems (EPIC, Pyxis, Provation).
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Must reside within a 30-minute radius of the hospital for call-back purposes.

Preferred Skills & Certifications:

• Ability to scrub surgical cases.
• Experience with a wide range of surgical procedures including robotic and endoscopic surgeries.

Special Considerations:

• Call coverage required 24/7, averaging 1-2 times per week plus up to 2 weekends per month.
• Must be available for variable shifts between 06:45 and 23:15 Monday through Friday.
• Minimum completion of 39 shifts during contract duration if requested time off is approved.
• Scrubs are provided as dress code.
• Work environment includes 6 OR suites plus one dedicated to C-sections, with 4 to 6 rooms running simultaneously.

Scheduling:

• Variable shifts scheduled Monday through Friday, between 06:45 and 23:15.
• Travelers scheduled for 40 hours per week, with possible reduction to 32 hours during holidays.
• Orientation on day shift for up to one week or as per manager discretion.
