Advanced Practice Registered NurseThe APRN is responsible for assessing physical and psychosocial status of patients by means of interview, health history, physical examination, and diagnostic studies at Jackson Memorial Hospital as part of the inpatient General and Transplant Hepatology consult service. Assist physicians in performing medical procedures, up to and including vital signs and nursing assessments, history and physical.Primary Duties and Responsibilities:Perform consults and daily follow-up progress notesRecognizes deviations from normal in the physical assessment. Works in collaboration with a physician in formulating treatment plans for health problems and follow-upWrites prescriptions for medication, blood products based upon laboratory results, routine diagnostic and follow-up studies, therapeutic measures, and post-discharge care in accordance with written practice protocolsInitiates and facilitates clinical research protocols and coordinates patient care with research staffObtains complete medical history independent of supervision by the physicianOrders appropriate laboratory tests according to practice guidelinesDevelops, implements and evaluates a plan of care that is appropriate for the patient and familyActively participates in quality assurance programs and peer review activitiesResponsible for providing assistance to physicians in the care and treatment of patientsProvides medical support to staff, triaging and implementing care in a knowledgeable and skillful manner, as evidenced by team feedback and documentation in medical recordsAdministers nursing assessments to include performing examinations, giving injections and assessing a patient's health statusAssess severity of patient's condition, determining and directing patients to appropriate medical providersKnowledge, Skills, and Abilities:Excellent written and verbal communication skillsEnsuring compliance with local, state and federal health regulationsKnowledge of and ability to apply professional medical principles, procedures, and techniquesPerforms in tactful and professional mannerEducation Requirements:Master's Degree in Advanced Registered NursingCurrent licensure to practice as an Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner in the State of FloridaMust be credentialed to practice by Hospital Medical BoardWork Experience Requirements:One yearThe University of Miami offers competitive salaries and a comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, tuition remission and more.UHealth-University of Miami Health System, South Florida's only university-based health system, provides leading-edge patient care powered by the ground breaking research and medical education at the Miller School of Medicine.
