Position Summary

The Counseling Services Clinician, reporting to the Director of Counseling and Psychological Services, will be employed to provide counseling services to the Avila student population throughout the 2026-2027 academic year (late August through early May) on a Part-Time basis (approximately 6-8 clinical hours per week). Demonstrating student-centered philosophy in support of student success, this position provides individual counseling for Avila students, including providing emergency/crisis intervention, and making referrals to community organizations as needed for their clients.   Responsibilities:

• Providing excellent counseling services, while demonstrating awareness of current best practices and counseling theory. 
• Establishing and maintaining confidential electronic counseling files. 
• Working in tandem with Director of Counseling and Psychological Services, providing consultation to Avila faculty and staff regarding student behavioral and emotional issues. 

  Qualifications:

• Masters or Doctorate degree in a licensable mental health discipline (counseling, social work, psychology, etc) required.
• License to provide mental health counseling services in the state of Missouri (ideally Missouri and Kansas) required.
• Qualified applicants may include those holding licenses such as LPC, LCSW, and LP. 
• Experience and/or special interest in working with college-aged population preferred. 
• EMDR trained clinicians encouraged to apply.
