Licensure & Healthcare Regulatory Director

Surgery Partners seeks a Licensure & Healthcare Regulatory Director to lead licensing, regulatory strategy, and compliance across our national network of surgical facilities. This role oversees facility and provider licensure, interprets federal and state healthcare regulations, and partners with Legal, Compliance, and Clinical leaders to ensure survey readiness and adherence to accreditation standards. The Director will monitor regulatory change, develop policies, advise on risk, support growth initiatives, and provide training to facility leaders. Ideal candidates bring deep healthcare regulatory expertise, strong leadership, and the ability to operate in a fast‑paced, performance‑driven environment focused on quality patient care. Key Responsibilities Lead licensure, accreditation, and healthcare regulatory strategy across Surgery Partners’ ambulatory surgery centers and hospitals. Oversee end‑to‑end licensing, registrations, and renewals for facilities, providers, and service lines. Interpret federal and state healthcare regulations and guide operational leaders on compliant practices. Develop, implement, and maintain regulatory compliance policies, monitoring, and internal controls. Partner with Legal, Compliance, and Clinical leadership on audits, surveys, and corrective action plans. Monitor regulatory changes and communicate impact, advising executives on risk mitigation. Support transactions, expansions, and new service offerings from a licensure and regulatory perspective. Coordinate responses to regulators and accreditation bodies; lead readiness for surveys and inspections. Provide training and regulatory guidance to facility leaders, physicians, and key stakeholders. Track and report compliance metrics and issues to senior leadership. Ensure compliance with healthcare regulatory standards, including CMS Conditions of Participation and state facility licensing rules. Maintain knowledge of multi‑state healthcare operations and accreditation standards such as the Joint Commission and AAAHC. Conduct regulatory risk assessment and mitigation, audit and survey readiness management. Admission to at least one state bar strongly preferred for JD candidates. Certified in Healthcare Compliance (CHC) or similar credential highly desirable. Demonstrated expertise with CMS Conditions of Participation and state facility licensing rules. Experience managing multi‑state healthcare regulatory portfolios and surveys.
