Use professional judgment to deliver imaging services, applying X‑ray technology for patients of all ages. Perform Medical Assistant duties under a provider after training – a strong opportunity to expand your skill set. What To Expect in a Day Teleradiology reads all imaging. Work is varied – you are not doing the same thing all day. No fluoroscopy studies, no operating room cases, no unit portables, no on‑call or overnight shifts. Job Description Summary The Radiologic Technologist (RT) works with Medical Providers and/or Medical Assistants with the examination and treatment of UPMC-GoHealth Urgent Care patients. This role is responsible for providing a variety of technical procedures and applying prescribed ionizing radiation for radiologic diagnosis, performing and analyzing patient x‑rays, reporting results to Medical Providers, and providing administrative support to ensure efficient operation of UPMC-GoHealth Urgent Care Centers. Job Requirements Education – High School Diploma required. Graduate of an approved Radiologic Technologist program required. Work Experience – Experience in a clinical setting preferred. Licenses/Certifications – Basic Life Support (BLS) required at the time of hire, obtained through the American Red Cross (ARC) or American Heart Association (AHA). American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) registration required at time of hire. State licensure as a Radiologic Technologist is required at the time of hire (if applicable by state law). Essential Functions Responsible for x‑ray services as needed; perform x‑ray services for patients by applying x‑ray energy to assist in diagnosis or treatment of patients in all age groups. Ensure patients are positioned correctly and protected during use; may need to push patient in a wheelchair. Patient preparation: inform technical staff of patient flow; prepare patients for examination, conduct interviews, verify patient information, record medical history, confirm purpose of visit. Perform preliminary physical tests (blood pressure, weight, temperature, etc.) and conduct point‑of‑care testing as needed. Administrative: maintain medical records, scan charts to patient files, conduct courtesy call‑backs for patient follow‑up, perform daily controls and calibration of equipment, maintain QA/QC logs, troubleshoot breakdowns, perform preventive maintenance, submit repair tickets. Medical Team Support: collaborate with provider to determine procedures or views that best assist accurate diagnoses and treatment. Patient Care: explain procedures to patients, ensure comfort and safety, answer questions. Patient Positioning: accurately position patients and equipment for optimal imaging results. Image Production: select proper ionizing factors and adjust radiographic controls to capture clear, high‑quality diagnostic images. Equipment Maintenance: perform routine maintenance, cleaning, and manage supplies. Radiation Safety: adhere to strict protocols and implement ALARA to minimize exposure. Documentation: maintain accurate patient records and logging of completed procedures in electronic systems or logbooks. Image Management: verify image quality and ensure images are sent to radiologists for interpretation. Knowledge Knowledge of X‑ray procedures and protocols. Knowledge of anatomy and physiology necessary to perform X‑ray testing, including body mechanics and patient movement. Knowledge of radiology equipment including safety hazards common to radiology. Skills Positioning patients properly for the X‑ray procedure required. Identifying equipment problems and correcting or notifying supervisor.
