Shift Details

The position requires the following shift schedule:

• Night 3x12-Hour (19:00 - 07:00)
• Day 3x12-Hour (07:00 - 19:00)

Contract Information

This opportunity starts on September 28, with a duration of 13 weeks. Flexibility for variable day and night shifts is required, as well as the possibility of working on weekends. The clinician must be available to work two of the following three holidays: Christmas, New Year's, or Thanksgiving.

Location

The position is based in La Jolla, CA, with potential floating to various other locations, including:

• Rady Main Campus
• Scripps Encinitas
• Rancho Springs
• Palomar
• Scripps Mercy

Floating may include mid-shift responsibilities, though this is not a common occurrence.

Requirements

To qualify for this position, candidates must possess the following:

• A valid California RN license
• Current certifications in BLS and NRP
• A minimum of three years of NICU experience at Level 3 or higher
• Experience with Epic charting system

Preferred Experience

• Charge nurse experience
• Pediatrics experience in community hospitals
• Travel nursing experience

Skills

Key skills for this position include:

• Administration of blood and blood products
• Management of arterial lines
• Assisting with high-risk deliveries
• Neonatal dosage calculations
• Ventilator management
• Knowledge of therapeutic hypothermia procedures

Facility and Patient Care Details

This position is within a NICU Level 3 facility, serving neonates with a daily census of approximately 19 patients. The unit is well-supported by interdisciplinary teams, including physical therapy, respiratory services, and pharmacy, to provide comprehensive care.

Orientation and Training

New staff will undergo 32 hours of orientation, and may be required to complete up to 10 hours of non-billable modules prior to starting the position.
