Vascular Technologist

A PRN caregiver in this position works varying 8-hour shifts between 7:00 AM – 7:30 PM, including weekends. Although the main work location is Martin South Hospital, this caregiver may also be scheduled at Martin North, Tradition, St. Lucie West and Stuart Family Health Center. Responsibilities Perform carotid duplex, venous duplex, arterial duplex, aortoiliac duplex, penile duplex and renal duplex. Dictate preliminary reports for physicians. Consult with vascular medicine physician for interpretation of test results. Maintain records of testing for documentation. Provide daily account of patient's charge requisition with appropriate ICD9 codes. Provide training and act as a resource for vascular ultrasound students, residents and physicians. Provide testing for add-on emergency patients. Maintain continuing medical education requirements for the appropriate professional organization. Maintain files (e.g., product and service quotes), records and up-to-date documents for accreditation of vascular lab. Minimum Qualifications Completion of an appropriate allied health program leading to a degree OR certificate in the application of non-invasive cardiovascular ultrasound techniques Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT) or other appropriate national certification OR registry eligible Appropriate national registry must be completed within one year of hire Basic Life Support (BLS) through American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross Advanced training in anatomy, physiology, biology, and physics Preferred Qualifications Three years of clinical experience Dual registry status as a Vascular and Echo Technologist Physical Requirements Essential Duties: Interact with patients, families, physicians and other health care workers. Good hand coordination for positioning of probe and equipment. Good vision to analyze computer screens and VCR recordings to diagnose test results. Physical Duties: Moderate lifting and positioning of patients. Moderate pushing and pulling of equipment. Working Conditions: 100% air-conditioned.
