We are looking for a detail-focused Medical Coder to support healthcare coding operations in South Carolina. This Contract position is ideal for a coding specialist who can translate clinical documentation into accurate billable codes while maintaining compliance with current regulatory standards. The role plays an important part in ensuring precise claim submission, clean documentation alignment, and efficient revenue cycle support within an outpatient care environment.

Responsibilities:
• Review clinical records and assign accurate diagnosis and procedure codes using ICD-10 and CPT classification systems.
• Interpret provider documentation to ensure coded data reflects services performed in outpatient settings.
• Validate coding accuracy and completeness before claims are submitted for billing and reimbursement processing.
• Work closely with clinical, billing, and administrative teams to clarify missing or unclear documentation.
• Maintain coding quality by following payer guidelines, healthcare regulations, and internal compliance expectations.
• Support audits and quality reviews by identifying coding discrepancies and helping resolve documentation issues.
• Keep coding practices current by applying updates to code sets, reimbursement rules, and industry standards.• Proven experience in medical coding within a healthcare environment, preferably focused on outpatient services.
• Strong working knowledge of ICD-10 and CPT coding systems.
• Certified coding credential required or clearly demonstrated certified coding background.
• Ability to read and interpret medical documentation with accuracy and consistency.
• Familiarity with compliance standards, reimbursement guidelines, and coding best practices.
• High attention to detail and strong organizational skills in a deadline-driven setting.
