Pet Therapy Volunteer: Comfort Patients & Families
Athena Home Health & Hospice
Athena Home Health & Hospice is looking for compassionate and caring pet therapy volunteers to join our team in Hartford County! What does a pet therapy hospice volunteer do? Our volunteers work closely with the Volunteer Coordinator and the interdisciplinary team to provide emotional and task-oriented support to patients and their families. A great hospice volunteer is someone who has a big heart. Our patients are at the end of life, and our mission is to provide a meaningful and comfortable experience for them and their family. No experience is required! We will help prepare and support you throughout your time as a volunteer. What are the requirements? Must be at least 18 years old. Must have a reliable and insured method of transportation and a valid driver's license. Must possess your own certificated therapy animal. Must possess a certification in pet therapy. We will collect proof that the animal is up-to-date on vaccinations. Must be willing to visit patients in their home setting (skilled nursing facilities, assisted living facilities, hospitals, homes, etc). Must be willing to commit at least one hour a week for a minimum of six months. We are flexible with the schedule. Must be able to read, speak, write, and understand the English language. Must be able to deal tactfully with confidential and personal information regarding patients and their plan of care. We are an equal opportunity employer that values diversity at all levels. All individuals, regardless of personal characteristics, are encouraged to apply. Athena Health Care Systems and its managed centers follow federal and state mandatory guidelines regarding staff vaccinations; our vaccination policy requires all newly hired staff, regardless of position or work location, to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 unless they receive an approved exemption from Athena, except where prohibited by state law. #J-18808-Ljbffr Athena Home Health & Hospice
