Job Title

Pulmonary/Critical Care and Sleep Disorders Physician

Duties

The successful candidate must qualify for a faculty appointment at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center. The physician will participate in inpatient and outpatient quality care, teaching, and research related to pulmonary/critical care and sleep disorders. Apply national and VA guidelines to patient screening, surveillance, and management of such diseases. The incumbent needs to be proficient in routine and advanced bronchoscopic procedures, including EBUS and robotic bronchoscopy, and bedside ultrasound. Experience in formal sleep training, and be proficient in all aspects of sleep medicine, including scoring and interpretation of home sleep testing. The physician will participate in the education and supervision of trainees. Strong research experience is preferred.

Qualifications

Extensive experience in Pulmonary Diseases. Practitioners considered qualified through experience and training to provide consultation for and diagnose and treat respiratory diseases and perform the following procedures: Airway Stenting, Electromagnetic navigational bronchoscopy, endobronchial ablation (Laser, APC, Brachytherapy), Endobronchial ultrasound (EBUS), Arterial Cannulation, closed tube thoracostomy, chemical pleurodesis, fiberoptic bronchoscopy with bronchial or transbronchial biopsy and needle aspiration, robotic bronchoscope, closed pleural biopsy, pulmonary exercise testing, pulmonary function test interpretation, percutaneous lung biopsy, ventilator management.

Pay: Competitive salary, annual performance bonus, regular salary increases.

Contract: No Physician Employment Contract and no significant restriction on moonlighting.

Work Schedule: Mon-Fri, 8:00am-4:30pm.

Contract Buy Out Program: This position may be eligible for the Physician / Provider Contract Buy Out Program (CBOP), which authorizes VHA to buy out service contracts (Locum agreements, loan repayments, sign-on bonus contracts, Physician-owned practices) in exchange for employment at certain rural or highly rural facilities for a period of obligated service (minimum 4 years).
