Nurse Extern

Program begins Dec 14th, 2026 Nurse externs will gain clinical experience and time management skills by working alongside a RN and also learning the role of Patient Care Tech. Nurse Externs must work a minimum of 2 twelve-hour shifts per month (1 PCT shift prior to 1 nurse extern shift each month). Responsibilities The Nurse Extern, under the supervision of the Registered Nurse, provides direct patient care to patients from birth through the lifecycle. This care includes utilizing treatments, procedures and equipment appropriate to the pre-licensure nurse in the clinical setting per hospital policy. Qualifications Education A student currently enrolled in and progressing through an accredited nursing program and successfully completed the first Med/Surg rotation Work Experience No experience required Required Licenses and Certifications BCLS - Basic Life Support Required Certification from a Nursing Assistant or Patient Care Technician program Preferred or Certification in phlebotomy Preferred or Certification in ECG Preferred CNA - Certified Nursing Assistant or Patient Care Technician program Preferred CPT - Phlebotomy Technician Certification Preferred BECG - Basic Ecg Preferred Business Unit : Company Name Piedmont Augusta Hospital #J-18808-Ljbffr
