The Opportunity

We are working with an established international engineering business specialising in industrial automation and control systems, particularly within the pharmaceutical and food manufacturing industries.

With over 30 years of experience and an established presence across Europe, the business has recently expanded into the United States and is looking to strengthen its engineering capabilities in New York.

They are seeking a SCADA Engineer to join their team in Tonawanda, offering an opportunity to work on technically interesting automation projects while developing alongside experienced engineers.

This position would suit someone in the earlier stages of their engineering career who is looking to broaden their technical expertise, gain exposure to international projects and take on greater responsibility as the US operation develops.

The Role

As a SCADA Engineer, you will be involved in developing, configuring, testing and maintaining industrial automation systems used to monitor and control manufacturing processes.

Working closely with senior engineers, you will contribute to projects across pharmaceutical packaging and food production, gaining hands-on experience with SCADA applications, PLC integration, industrial networks and commissioning activities.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and configure SCADA applications using platforms such as GE iFIX, Siemens WinCC and other industrial supervision systems.

• Design and develop HMI interfaces for monitoring and controlling industrial equipment.

• Integrate SCADA applications with PLCs, industrial machinery and field devices.

• Support SQL database configuration, data collection and visualisation.

• Assist with the installation and maintenance of industrial servers, networks and SCADA infrastructure.

• Conduct functional testing, system validation and troubleshooting.

• Collaborate with engineering, automation, service and quality assurance teams.

• Support commissioning and system start-up activities at customer facilities.

• Prepare technical documentation and contribute to project specifications.

What We're Looking For

Ideally, you will have 1-3 years of experience in industrial automation, SCADA, control systems or a related engineering discipline.

We are interested in speaking with engineers who have:

• Experience working with SCADA and HMI systems.

• Knowledge of PLCs and industrial automation.

• Exposure to platforms such as iFIX, WinCC, Ignition, FactoryTalk or similar.

• An understanding of industrial networks and communication protocols.

• Familiarity with SQL databases, ideally Microsoft SQL Server.

• The ability to read electrical diagrams and technical documentation.

• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

• A bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Automation Engineering or a related discipline.

Experience within pharmaceutical packaging or a similar manufacturing environment would be particularly valuable.

Knowledge of programming languages such as SQL, VB/VBA, .NET, Python, C or C++ would also be beneficial.

Candidates should be comfortable collaborating with different engineering teams and travelling domestically and internationally when required.
