Vice Chair of Operations, Department of Radiology – Boston, MA Position Summary The Vice Chair of Operations (VCO) will be responsible for optimizing clinical operations based on the departmental vision. The VCO will manage day‑to‑day clinical operations, oversee physician staffing and scheduling, facilitate interactions among radiologists, technologists, nurses, and administrative staff, and optimize workflow. The role includes teaching and mentoring residents and fellows and reporting to the Chair while collaborating with other department leaders. Key Responsibilities Manage day‑to‑day clinical operations of the Department of Radiology. Oversee physician staffing, scheduling, and workflow optimization. Collaborate with radiologists, technologists, nurses, and administrative staff to improve patient care. Provide teaching and mentoring of radiology residents and fellows. Report to the Chair and work closely with Vice Chair of Quality, Section Chiefs, Executive Director, Director of Clinical Administration, Chief of Technologists, and residency/fellowship leadership teams. Serve as primary contact for Section Chiefs and program directors on clinical operational issues. Healthcare Setting Tufts Medical Center is a level‑I trauma center in downtown Boston with expanding transplant services and advanced cardiac imaging. The Department offers a broad array of diagnostic imaging services, including abdominal, cardiothoracic, musculoskeletal, neuroradiology, nuclear medicine, and more. Required Qualifications Medical degree (MD, DO, or foreign equivalent). Board certification in Diagnostic Radiology by the American Board of Radiology. Active medical license in Massachusetts. Relevant training or experience in clinical operations, excellence, or quality. Eligibility for appointment at Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor rank (preference for Associate or Full Professor). Position is 1.0 FTE. Preferred Experience Strong academic productivity in radiology. Experience leading projects in clinical operations within an academic radiology department. Track record of mentoring trainees and faculty. Ability to challenge the status quo and drive change. Proven collaboration with technologists, nurses, and administrative staff.
