Summary:

1. Performs all phases of heating, ventilation and air conditioning maintenance throughout the hospital complex.

2. Repairs and overhauls mechanical equipment, such as pumps, compressors, kitchen appliances and so forth. Trouble shoots and repairs related electrical circuits (120/277 volt).

• Identify the competencies required for each patient population that the employee works with (neonate, child, adolescent, young adult, middle adult and older adult)
• Participates in Entity and Department wide initiatives for Patient /Employee safety • Demonstrates an awareness of patient/ employee safety when carrying out daily responsibilities of their position.

• Validation of annual competencies required for the position
• Services various plumbing fixtures and operates drain cleaning equipment.
• Maintains air handling equipment and changes filters.
• Performs preventive maintenance inspections and repairs on hospital equipment.
• Maintains and trouble shoots pneumatic and electrical control systems.
• Services all system components such as motors, compressors, motor starters and controls, heat exchangers, steam traps, coils, dampers, and all drive accessories.
• Completes all associated paperwork in a neat and timely manner.
• Maintains all refrigeration circuits leak tight. Adds refrigerant as necessary.
• Adjusts equipment to assure peak operating efficiency.
• Inspects, tests, and operates electrical power circuits.
• Uses effective interpersonal skills in all interactions.
• Performs duties and exhibits behaviors consistent with care philosophy of Pennsylvania Hospital.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Education or Equivalent Experience:

• HS diploma/GED required.
• Extensive experience performing general maintenance duties
• General knowledge of mechanical and electrical maintenance.
• Completion of a trade and/or vocational school preferred.
