An opportunity has arisen to join a newly established College of Veterinary Medicine in the US, offering the chance to be part of a founding faculty team. This is a formative stage programme where faculty will play a central role in developing and delivering a modern, student-centred veterinary curriculum, with direct input into teaching structure, course content, and assessment design.

This role would suit veterinarians or scientists with a DVM and/or PhD, typically with several years of post-graduate experience, and ideally with exposure to teaching, research, or academic practice. Board eligibility or certification is required or strongly preferred, with a particular interest in virology and infectious disease research highly valued.

The primary focus of the role is teaching within Veterinary Virology as part of the Veterinary Biomedical Sciences curriculum. You will deliver lectures, facilitate small group and interactive teaching sessions, and contribute to the ongoing development and refinement of course materials. A key element of the role includes involvement in assessment design, including writing and reviewing exam questions, ensuring content is both academically robust and clinically relevant.

Alongside teaching, you will contribute to a developing research environment focused on areas such as One Health, zoonotic disease, wildlife and conservation medicine, climate change, and public health. You will be expected to maintain or develop an active research portfolio within virology or related fields, with opportunities for both independent and collaborative projects. There is also scope to involve veterinary students in research activity where appropriate, supporting their academic and professional development.

The role also includes broader academic responsibilities such as participation in faculty meetings, curriculum development discussions, student mentorship, departmental evaluations, and involvement in university committees as the programme continues to expand.

Salary & Benefits

$149,000 – $196,000+ depending on experience, qualifications, and faculty rank, with relocation assistance available.
