Dietitian 2

Rochester Psychiatric Center (RPC) an Office of Mental Health (OMH) Joint Commission-accredited hospital, is currently recruiting Dietitians to serve as a Dietitian 2 and provide professional dietetic and nutrition services to individuals with mental illness.

As a Dietitian 2, you will be part of a multidisciplinary treatment team and will assist in the food and nutrition program operations, including:

• Developing, planning, and approving diets and menus.
• Monitoring patient food and fluid intake at meals.
• Consulting with healthcare providers on individual diet therapy programs to determine nutritional needs and diet restrictions.
• Identifying and recommending activities to improve and maintain individuals' nutritional health.
• Providing nutritional care instructions and information to individuals.
• Ensuring the integration of cultural, religious, and ethnic foods in the planning and delivery of balanced meals.
• Documenting dietary changes or reactions in individuals' medical records.
• Providing remote weekend on-call coverage once per month on a rotating schedule.
• Planning and conducting training for both staff and patients in sanitation, safety, nutrition therapy, meal service, shopping, etc.
• This position will need to obtain and maintain ServSafe Manager certification.

Candidates from outside and within State Service may be considered for hire under the Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement - Statewide (NY HELPS) program as a Dietitian 2 if they have:

• Current registration with the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) as a Registered Dietitian (RD) or New York State Education Department (NYSED) certification in dietetics-nutrition and have completed a minimum of an additional 400 hours of supervised dietetics practice under the supervision of a RD.
• OR
• Candidates from within State service may be considered for transfer to a competitive class position if they have one year of permanent competitive or 55-b/55-c service in a title eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law.
