Located in Sumner, WA, we are committed to excellence in every project we undertake.Job Summary:We are seeking a highly experienced Septic Install Superintendent to lead and oversee field operations across Pierce, King, Kitsap, and surrounding counties, based in Auburn, WA. This role is responsible for managing multiple crews and directing septic system installations from start to finish, ensuring all work is completed safely, efficiently, and in full compliance with Washington State and county health regulations. The Superintendent will coordinate schedules, review plans, troubleshoot field challenges, and maintain clear communication with clients, inspectors, and internal teams to keep projects on time and within scope. In addition to field leadership, this position plays a key role in workforce development, including participating in hiring, and training and coaching team members to drive performance and consistency.The ideal candidate is a proven septic construction leader with strong knowledge of Washington State onsite sewage systems, excavation practices, and crew management in a high-production environment, who can effectively balance hands-on field execution with strong organizational and leadership skills.Key Responsibilities:Field Leadership & Project OversightSupervise septic installation crews across multiple active job sitesOversee full installation lifecycle: excavation, tank placement, drain field construction, backfill, grading, and final prep for inspectionEnsure work is completed according to engineered plans, permits, and county health department requirementsCoordinate daily production schedules with dispatch and project managementTroubleshoot and resolve field issues, design conflicts, and site challenges in real timeHiring, Training & Crew DevelopmentConduct candidate interviews for field positions (operators, installers, laborers)Participate in hiring recommendations and final selection decisionsTrain, mentor, and develop field employees to improve performance and retentionApprove employee timesheets and time-off requestsProvide ongoing coaching, feedback, and corrective action when neededPromote a strong culture of safety, accountability, and professionalismSeptic Installation & Technical ExecutionOversee and/or perform excavation and installation of septic systemsEnsure proper grading, trenching, compaction, and utility protectionVerify correct placement of septic tanks, drain fields, and associated componentsRead and interpret engineered septic designs and site plansEnsure compliance with Pierce, King, Kitsap, and surrounding county regulationsCompliance, Safety & CertificationEnforce OSHA safety standards on all job sitesEnsure compliance with Washington State OSS (Onsite Sewage System) regulationsMust maintain WOSSA certification (required)Conduct jobsite safety meetings and hazard assessmentsEnsure documentation is complete for inspections and regulatory approvalsEquipment & Jobsite ManagementOperate excavators and heavy equipment as neededOversee proper use, maintenance, and care of company equipmentCoordinate trucking, material staging, and equipment logisticsEnsure efficient utilization of equipment to meet production goalsCommunication & ReportingServe as primary field leadership contact between crews and office staffProvide daily production updates and job status reportsCommunicate change conditions, site issues, and schedule impactsMaintain documentation of crew performance, incidents, and job progressRequirements:Valid WA State Drivers LicenseMinimum 5+ years of septic installation experience (Washington State strongly preferred)Proven leadership experience as Foreman, Lead Installer, or SuperintendentStrong knowledge of excavation, underground utilities, and site developmentDeep familiarity with Pierce, King, Kitsap, and surrounding county septic regulationsAbility to read and interpret engineered septic plansExperience managing multiple crews or job sites simultaneouslyMust be WOSSA certified (required or ability to obtain immediately)Must be 23+ years old (insurance requirement)Strong leadership, communication, and decision-making skillsPreferred Qualifications:Valid CDL Class A (must be willing to obtain after 1 year)Prior Superintendent or senior Foreman experience in septic or civil constructionStrong mechanical and heavy equipment knowledgeExperience working directly with county inspectors and health departmentsDemonstrated ability to build and develop high-performing crewsStrong organizational and scheduling skills in fast-paced field operationsBenefits:Company Paid Medical for Employees ($25 bi-weekly employee contribution)Dental Insurance (Supplemental – after 2 months)Vision Insurance (Supplemental – after 2 months)Company Paid $25,000 Life InsuranceSupplemental Life Insurance (Principal + Colonial)401(k) with 4% Company MatchPaid Sick Leave (1 hour per 40 hours worked; eligible after 90 days)Annual PTO (80 hours prorated based upon hire date, eligible to use after 90 days)Aflac Supplemental Insurance (STD, LTD, Accident, Critical Illness)Pet Insurance (United Healthcare)Professional Development & Training OpportunitiesEmployee Discount Program6 Paid Holidays (after 6 months)Veterans Day paid holiday for Veterans & Active Military (after 6 months)Schedule:Full-timeMonday – Friday8–10 hour shiftsOccasional overtime based on production needsPlease see job description #J-18808-Ljbffr A-advanced Septic Services Inc
