Food Service Worker

To work in a partnership with students, staff, parents and the community in accordance with the district's vision and mission to promote student achievement. Required Qualifications:

• High School diploma or equivalent (GED).
• One year related experience in food services in a school setting is preferred.
• Must have and maintain a valid Arizona Identity Verified Prints (IVP) Fingerprint Clearance Card.
• Must have the authorization to work in the United States as defined by the Immigration Reform Act of 1986.

Key Responsibilities, Skills & Knowledge:

• Provide ongoing staffing support to schools and departments.
• Assist Cook in preparing meals. Prepare salads, (vegetables, and fruit desserts) for the serving line.
• Practice good personal hygiene, sanitation and safety rules daily.
• Serve on the tray line using proper portion control to meet USDA requirements and prepare the cafeteria counter.
• Store supplies in pantries, freezers, and refrigerators in the proper manner.
• Wash dishes, pots and pans.
• Wash tables after each meal. Wipe off door handles and area around the dish room window.
• Sweeping and mopping cafeteria, dish-room, kitchen, and refrigerators, freezers, and lockers room.
• Taking out trash, washing cans, putting in new liners, and returning to designated areas.
• Cleaning the restroom and kitchen hand bowl daily, keep soap and paper towel dispensers.
• Filling the milk cooler on the serving line.
• Attending workshops and in-service training when offered.
• Being courteous when dealing with students, staff and the public.
• Maintaining a clean janitorial closet.
• Reporting any needed repairs to supervisors as soon as they are noticed.
• Adhering to the District vision, mission, core values, and goals in collaboration with staff.
• Demonstrating the ability and desire to provide outstanding customer service.
• Demonstrating a high regard for confidential and sensitive information.
• Ability to read and communicate in English.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a current health card.
• Ability to be on your feet for long periods of time.
• Ability to lift as required (maximum 50 lbs.)
• Maintaining a well-groomed appearance and following the SESD dress code.
• Complying with the District's attendance standards as described in established guidelines.
• Being a team player and getting along well with others.
• Demonstrating flexibility, common sense, and good judgment.
• Ability to keep abreast of information pertinent to the job.
• Meeting any additional specific job requirements as indicated by the department.
• Assisting other personnel as may be required to support them in the completion of their work activities.
• Performing other duties as may be assigned by the superintendent.

The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands: lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling; climbing and balancing; stooping, kneeling, crouching, and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally, the job requires 5% sitting, 20% walking, and 75% standing. The job is performed under variable temperature conditions.
