Staff Accountant

POSITION SUMMARYThe Staff Accountant is responsible for maintaining financial procedures and confirming financial compliance through preparation of a company’s reports and statements.POSITION GOALSReview financial statements for accuracy and legal compliance.Assist in resolving accounting and financial problems and/or issues.Organize and update financial records.Prepare documentation for external auditors.Responsible for issuance of 1099 forms at the end of the year.Assist Director of Finance with grant management and compliance.Verify, allocate, post and reconcile accounts payable and receivable.Produce error-free accounting reports and present their resultsAnalyze financial information and summarize financial status.Support month-end and year-end close process.Perform additional duties as requested by the Chief Financial Officer and/or /Director of Finance.Make daily deposits and maintain petty cash.Responsible for paying bills and keeping files on billing.Assist in the preparation for and execution of the annual financial audit.QUALIFICATIONSEducation and ExperienceCollege degree in relevant field and equivalent work experience.Associate degree in accounting with relevant work experience may be considered in lieu of 4 year degree.Skills and AbilitiesThorough understanding of accounting, bookkeeping, and financial management information requirements.Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills.Literate in Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel software.Experience using accounting softwareAbility to work collaboratively with others and facilitate the work of others.It is useful if the incumbent has a background working with governmental agencies and other nonprofits.Self-starter, highly motivated, dynamic, and creative professional with entrepreneurial spirit.Maintain working knowledge and understanding of the office machines, procedures and computer programs used by the food bank.Work closely with other staff members and departments as needed.Strong attention to detailMaintain strict confidentialityExcellent problem solving and critical thinking skillsSuperior organization abilitiesOther duties as assigned by the Director of Finance or CFOWORKING CONDITIONSThis position works in an office environment and requires sitting at a computer for prolonged periods of time.The above statements are intended to describe the general nature and levels of work to be performed and are not intended to be an exhaustive list of all responsibilities and duties. #J-18808-Ljbffr Regional East Texas Food Bank
