Associate Pastor of Families Ministry and Pastoral Care

Church Information:

Sky View Missionary Baptist Church is located in rural southwestern Virginia in Carrol County.  Carroll County is home to approximately 30,000 people.  Our church is a growing family that loves serving the Lord together as a family.  Our church is actively involved in ministry to our local community, our state, North America and around the globe.  We have a very active children’s ministry, youth ministry, young adult ministry and senior adult ministry.  Our church also has a pre-school that ministers to children and parents of our community.  Our full-size gym is utilized on a daily basis as a means of service to our church and community. 

Primary Role and Responsibilities:

Oversight for Students

·         Overall

o   Oversight, not all-around decision-making

o   Have a monthly touchpoint with every student ministry leader to discuss their satisfaction with the program (positives, frustration, needs, desires, etc.)

·         Bible Basics

o   Work with director and other potential leaders to ensure that every is setup and ready to go for Wednesday nights.

o   Continue developing new lessons and commentaries

o   Ensure that leadership for all classes is maintained and substitutes lined up

·         Youth

o   Work with leaders to develop calendar and planning (knowing what events/activities are available, setting dates far in advance, help with logistics, etc.)

o   Be present on Wednesday night (interact with students, teach as needed, etc.)

o   Other responsibilities that are needed

Hospital and Nursing Home Visits

·         Visit individuals in the hospital when needed

·         Continue visiting individuals in Nursing Homes on a regular basis

Young Adults Ministry

·         Meet on a weekly basis for Bible Study

·         Meet/talk with every active young adult outside of typical services on a reqular basis

·         Possibly plan some additional activities for this group

Other Duties

·         Work with Missions Pastor and Youth Missions Leader to plan youth mission opportunities locally and beyond

·         Be accountable to the Pastor and Executive Pastor

·         Be open to additional duties, as needed, and as assigned by the Pastor

·         Be at revival or other special services

Requirements:

·         Believe that the Bible is the inspired Word of God

·         Preferred college, university or an accredited Southern Baptist Seminary graduate

·         Must agree with the Southern Baptist doctrinal stance as stated in the Baptist Faith and Message 2000

·         Ability to work well with people and have good communication skills

·         Ability to maintain confidences and confidential information

·         Have demonstrated organizational and planning skills

·         Organize, prepared, punctual, proactive self-starter with a positive attitude

·         Maintain a professional appearance representing Christ and Sky View Missionary Baptist Church

·         Must be able to pass an extensive background check and drug screening

·         Must be willing to work a minimum of 40 hours per week.
