Salary: $110,000–$140,000 annually

Position Overview
Reliance One, Inc. is hiring a Senior Calibration Engineer for one of our established clients in the engine testing and development industry.
This position will lead diesel or spark-ignited engine calibration, testing, validation, and development activities. The Senior Calibration Engineer will create high-quality calibrations that meet performance targets, support customer applications, and improve engine reliability, efficiency, and overall performance.
The ideal candidate has practical experience with engine management systems, calibration tools, sensors, dynamometer or laboratory testing, and multidisciplinary engineering principles.
Key Responsibilities
- Apply engine operating fundamentals, control strategies, and calibration techniques to diesel or spark-ignited engine programs.
- Develop and complete engine and application calibrations that meet customer performance requirements.
- Plan and execute engine testing, data collection, analysis, and validation activities.
- Test new and existing engine products to determine suitability for customer applications.
- Evaluate engine performance, emissions, fuel efficiency, drivability, durability, and reliability.
- Analyze test data and recommend calibration or system improvements.
- Troubleshoot engine-control, sensor, software, electrical, and mechanical concerns.
- Support the development and optimization of engine-management strategies.
- Work with engineering, testing, software, and customer teams to resolve technical issues.
- Provide technical support to customers regarding product performance, calibration, and application requirements.
- Document calibration changes, test results, technical findings, and engineering recommendations.
- Support continuous-improvement initiatives involving engine systems, testing methods, and calibration processes.
- Communicate project progress, technical risks, and performance results to internal and external stakeholders.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or an equivalent technical discipline.
- Professional experience with diesel or spark-ignited engine calibration, testing, development, or validation.
- Knowledge of engine operating fundamentals and engine-management strategies.
- Familiarity with engine-control systems, electronic control modules, sensors, calibration tools, and laboratory test equipment.
- Ability to collect, analyze, interpret, and clearly communicate engine-test data.
- Basic understanding of electrical, software, and mechanical engineering principles.
- Understanding of relevant engineering fundamentals, including:
- Thermodynamics
- Compressible flow
- Electrical circuits
- Hydraulics and pneumatics
- Rotational and linear mechanical dynamics
- Strong technical problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to work effectively with multidisciplinary engineering teams and customers.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Ability to work on-site in San Antonio, Texas.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience developing production-ready engine calibrations.
- Experience with engine dynamometer or vehicle-level testing.
- Background supporting customer-specific engine applications.
- Experience troubleshooting complex engine, controls, electrical, or mechanical concerns.
- Knowledge of calibration optimization, emissions development, fuel economy, drivability, or performance testing.
- Experience providing direct technical support to customers.
