The Competitive Strategy practice is continuing to grow its customer-centric team. In this role, you will partner with global healthcare and pharmaceutical clients across the product life cycle, helping them unlock the full potential of their brands and portfolios.
About the Opportunity
As a Senior Principal, your time will be divided as follows:
- 40% on business development (mixture of existing and new clients)
- 60% on project delivery-related activities

Youll act as a thought partner to leaders within top biopharma companies around the globe, helping them see around the corner by leveraging your therapeutic, clinical and commercial expertise to enable them to make critical business decisions with confidence.
You need to have strong client management and relationship-building skills, as youll lead and inspire a global project team of Engagement Managers, Consultants and Analysts, responsible for delivering high-quality insight-led strategic projects for clients effectively, efficiently and profitably. Your lens should be broad enough to think beyond the project, with a constant eye on opportunities to help build and expand client relationships, add value to brands and businesses, and deliver on our land and expand account growth model.
Youll be able to apply an entrepreneurial, growth-focused, strategic mindset broadly to clients, the business and the team you lead. In addition, youll establish yourself as a credible strategic advisor to Partner-level leadership, supported as required by Prescient Partner's, Practice Leads and senior leaders.
As most of your clients will be based in the US, the Senior Principal position requires an expert understanding of the evolving US biopharmaceutical market and trends.
Key Responsibilities
- Reporting : You will report to a Partner within our Competitive Strategy business
- Project Directing : Collaborate with clients to ensure that projects are designed to answer strategic business questions and executed with a high degree of client satisfaction
- Account Management : Actively participate in devising overall strategic client account plans, developing the account team, strengthening existing relationships and expanding Prescients reach within the client organization while building the Prescient brand
- Business Development : Grow accounts through existing engagements, actively seek out new business based on client needs and pursue new opportunities with new brands within existing accounts
- Project Management : Ensure three-dimensional management of client engagements, including design, planning, client and people management, evidence collection, analysis and reporting
- Client Management : Collaborate with members of the project and account teams to ensure clients experience best-in-class customer service
- Subject Matter Expertise : Act as a valued subject matter expert externally and mentor junior staff internally on the clinical, regulatory and commercial aspects of the pharmaceutical industry
- Conference Attendance : Attend key conferences to engage with a wide range of experts and delegates and attend priority symposia, presentations, posters and booths
- Thought Leadership : Collaborate with the marketing team to develop and publish thought leadership content that has a meaningful impact on Prescients brand and business development activities
- Line Management : Mentor the members of the Competitor Strategy team by identifying their strengths and supporting their development, and ensure a sustained focus on delivering concise, impactful insights that add value to our clients
Essential Skills and Experience
- Relevant, related experience within the biopharmaceutical client services and consulting industry; client-side experience is preferred
- Strong results orientation with a proven track record of:Effective account management;Leading project teams that deliver exceptional outputs, consistently meeting and exceeding client expectations;Business development success
- A strong knowledge of the biopharmaceutical industry, particularly in clinical development
- Confident communication skills that allow you to interact with clients on a peer-to-peer basis, establishing yourself as a strategic thought partner
- Excellent business development skills to cultivate and grow existing client relationships, strong account management skills, and exceptional framing and solution-forming skills
- Ability to dive in the weeds, as well as pull back to see the big picture
- Demonstrated leadership ability with a willingness to make decisions and own the follow-through
- Strong learning agility to adapt to rapid change and new situations
- Ability to communicate complex ideas in simple terms

- BA/BS required; an advanced life science degree is preferred

The annual full time base salary range for this role is ($170,000 - $195,000). Specific compensation is determined through interviews and a review of relevant education, experience, training, skills, geographic location and alignment with market data. Additionally, positions may be eligible to receive a discretionary bonus as determined by bonus program guidelines. Prescient offers PTO and paid holidays, the terms of which are set forth in the program policies. All full-time employees also are eligible to participate in various benefit plans, including medical, dental, vision, life, disability insurance and 401K; in each case in accordance with the terms of the applicable plans.
