Job Summary Under the direction of the Responsive Recovery Team Leader and the supervision of the Recovery Services Coordinator, the Community Outreach Specialist performs a variety of duties to identify and further relationships with emergency responders, law enforcement entities, emergency room personnel, and other stake-holders to create access to individuals suffering from opioid/narcotic misuse. The Community Outreach Specialist is to contact and promote recovery to individuals with substance use disorder who are otherwise hidden or “closeted” within our community. Having not yet been placed in treatment through the legal system or for whom, treatment has not been effective. The Community Outreach Specialist functions as a living example to agency partners and the community at large that addiction and related mental health challenges are overcome through acquiring successful values including occupational, emotional, social, physical, and spiritual connections. Job Responsibilities Utilize available resources and “cold calling” techniques to approach first responders and organizations positioned to refer individuals at risk of opioid/narcotic overdose Approach overdose survivors and those at risk for overdose with recovery options Follow up with those at-risk individuals on a regular, timely basis Facilitate Recovery Connections group meetings in Correction settings Adheres to Recovery Services policies and procedures Abides by agency and CPRS Virginia Certification Board code of ethics Maintains professional boundaries while simultaneously building relationships with individuals that reflect common goals and results; Maintains accurate documentation consistent with grant requirements and licensure standards; Attends and participates positively in required team, agency and multidisciplinary meetings; Communicates effectively with the public - families of SUD victims, emergency responders, corrections and law enforcement personnel Employee must exercise tact and courtesy in contact with staff, clients, families, public, and service providers Responsible for any bridging justice involved individuals from incarceration to community and or recovery support Other Duties, as assigned Requirements High School Diploma or GED Must be a self-identified person currently or formerly receiving mental health services; or a self-identified person in recovery from a substance use disorder Must be a person with lived recovery experience, with a minimum of 1 year of continuous recovery and show an understanding of, and belief in, the recovery process Summary The agency of MPNN Behavioral Health maintains a drug free workplace. #J-18808-Ljbffr Jimmy Jazz
