Experience:
Minimum of 1 year of worked or educational clinical experience in both general and critical care.
Preferred: 2+ years of experience in a hospital setting providing respiratory care.

License:
Current State License as a Respiratory Care Practitioner.

Certifications:
Registered Respiratory Therapist credential from the National Board for Respiratory Care is required within 12 months of hire.
American Heart Association Basic Life Support for the Healthcare Provider or an approved equivalent.
American Heart Association Advanced Cardiac Life Support is required.
Neonatal Resuscitation Program is required within 6 months of hire for specific facilities.

Description:
A Respiratory Therapist performs designated respiratory care and pulmonary diagnostic procedures.
These procedures align with established policies and regulations for the treatment, management, control, diagnostic evaluation, and care of patients with cardiopulmonary conditions.
Respiratory care services include therapeutic treatment and diagnostic testing using medical gases and equipment.
Responsibilities involve administration of medications to the cardiopulmonary system.
Maintenance and management of ventilatory support systems is essential.
Tasks include bronchopulmonary clearance and providing breathing exercises.
Patient education is a key responsibility, including techniques for cardiopulmonary resuscitation.
Maintenance of natural and artificial airways is also required.
Procedures are conducted in both critical and non-critical care settings for patients of all ages.
The practitioner is expected to perform duties in accordance with established values and principles.
Additional duties may be assigned as necessary.
