Software Engineer, R&D Cytology

We're looking for a Software Engineer – Full Stack to help design, develop, and maintain full-stack software applications for our next-generation Cytology products. This role involves hands-on development across the technology stack, from front-end interfaces built with React and TypeScript to back-end services and databases using .NET and MSSQL. The engineer will work closely with cross-functional teams to help translate requirements into robust, maintainable solutions, growing their skills through design discussions, code reviews, and collaboration with senior engineers.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesCollaborate with cross-functional teams to design, develop, implement, and improve full-stack software applicationsWrite clean, efficient, and maintainable code using modern web technologies (e.g., TypeScript, React, .NET)Take ownership of software features and components under the guidance of senior engineers, from requirements analysis through design, implementation, testing, deployment, and documentationParticipate in design discussions and contribute ideas on tradeoffs and best practicesParticipate in code reviews and apply feedback on coding standards, design patterns, maintainability, performance, and securityDebug, troubleshoot, and resolve technical issues across the full technology stackSupport software testing and release processesDocument technical processes and contribute to project documentationParticipate in the software design lifecycle: help interpret requirements, contribute to solution design, implement features, test thoroughly, and document your workStay updated with the latest trends and technologies in software developmentRequired Qualifications and ExperienceBS or MS degree in Computer Science or equivalent plus 3+ years of related experience or MS plus 1+ years of related experienceExperience developing, testing, and deploying full-stack software applicationsRequires prior experience working in an integrated, cross-functional team environmentGrowing understanding of software development lifecycle practices, including requirements analysis, design, implementation, verification, deployment, and maintenanceMedical device experience a plusRequired SkillsTechnologies: TypeScript, C#, .NET, WPF, Python, PowerShell, MSSQLTools: Visual Studio, GitHub, JIRA, Code Review ToolsPlatforms: Windows Desktop / Server, Azure / Google Cloud PlatformKnowledge of React or a similar frontend frameworkKnowledge of UI design principles, prototyping, and user-centered design practicesKnowledge of software design patterns, object-oriented design, microservices, and full-stack application architectureKnowledge of DICOM, HL7, or other interoperability standards a plusKnowledge of OpenSeadragon or other deep zoomable image viewers a plusKnowledge of GitHub Copilot or other AI-assisted development tools a plusExperience working within Agile/Scrum and Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) environmentsSo why join Hologic?We are committed to making Hologic the company where top talent comes to grow.
