RN - Cath Lab

Must have basic knowledge of the job of a Cath lab nurse as in preparing patients for catheterization, angioplasty and pacemaker implantations. Must assist physician in the catheterization, angioplasty and pacemaker implantations processes. Must keep patient calm and relaxed during procedure where they're required to be awake. As a senior Cath lab nurse, must administer appropriate medicine when needed. Must be able perform proper after procedure care. Must check vital signs of the patient with proper care. Provide education about medications and care to the patients and families before the discharge.

Job Summary As a highly-skilled and compassionate Cath-Lab Nurse you will provide assistance with all invasive cardiac, vascular and interventional procedures. You will demonstrate clinical competency, nursing judgment, teaching skills, and a commitment to providing quality patient care. In this role: You will be responsible for all testing and therapeutics that takes place in the Cath lab. These procedures include but are not limited to: cardiac catheterizations and/or coronary interventions, EP device and ablation therapies, interventional radiology, neuro diagnostic/interventions, endovascular procedures, and structural Heart (LAAC, TAVR) procedures. You will facilitate effective communication among departmental staff to ensure interdisciplinary and collaborative approach to patient care. Uses appropriate SBAR process for hand-off communication. You will assist the patient through all aspects of the procedure, including transport, site preparation, sterile procedure, patient monitoring, and hemostasis following removal of catheter or sheath, and return to room. Manages emergent cases. You will maintain accurate, timely and compliant patient records. Completes all paperwork associated with these procedures and prepares tests for physician interpretation. You will demonstrate an ability to be flexible, organized and function well under stressful situations You will collaborate with fellow members of the team and orient and needed. Qualifications Current nursing license in good standing Associate's Degree in nursing required, bachelor's preferred Two to three years of Cath Lab experience. Emergency Room / ICU experience preferred. American Red Cross or American Heart Association Basic Life Support Course (BLS or BCLS) and Certification American Red Cross or American Heart Association Advanced Cardiac Life Support Certified (ACLS) Shift times: 7a - 7:30p (12 hr shifts) Must have experience - RN and AK lic required 3yr exp Cath or 5 yrs exp in high acuity setting (eg. ICU, Exp Circulating, Monitoring and Sedation medication (exp mixing sedation drips) No mapping exp needed (performed by 3rd party company) Unit Beds/ rooms: 3 rooms, average 4-6 procedures per day
