This role supports the planning team by coordinating production schedules, monitoring material availability, and ensuring the efficient movement of products through internal manufacturing operations and external suppliers. The planner helps maintain accurate work order and inventory records, supports on-time delivery of customer orders, and contributes to the smooth operation of a complex, quality-focused production environment, particularly within the aerospace sector.

Responsibilities

• Assist planning staff in coordinating the efficient movement of products through internal production processes and external vendors.
• Coordinate shipments and monitor order progress to support timely delivery of customer orders.
• Track the advancement of production and shipping activities for customer orders and escalate issues that may impact delivery dates.
• Support the preparation and maintenance of production documentation, including work orders and shipping documents.
• Monitor material shortages, manage floor inventory, and provide timely order status updates to stakeholders.
• Enter and maintain accurate data in QAD or other relevant MRP/ERP systems from work order release through completion.
• Update work order status throughout the production lifecycle to ensure accurate tracking and reporting.
• Monitor, investigate, and resolve material shortages for production kits to prevent delays in manufacturing.
• Prepare kits for shipment to suppliers for additional processing or value-added operations.

Essential Skills

• At least 2 years of experience in a planning or production support role.
• Familiarity with MRP (Material Requirements Planning) or ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) systems, including experience tracking work orders, managing inventory, monitoring shortages, and maintaining accurate data.
• Planning experience coordinating production schedules, managing work order flow, and resolving material shortages.
• Understanding of manufacturing or production processes and how materials, work orders, and schedules interact.
• Experience with inventory management and cycle counting in a production or warehouse environment.
• Strong sense of urgency with the ability to prioritize tasks and respond quickly to changing production needs.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel for tracking data, analyzing information, and generating reports.
• High school diploma.

Work Environment

The role operates in a manufacturing and production support environment with a strong focus on quality and on-time delivery, particularly for aerospace-related products. The planner works closely with production floors, stockrooms, inspection areas, and office-based planning functions. Daily work involves extensive use of MRP/ERP systems such as QAD, Microsoft Excel, and other tracking tools to manage work orders, inventory, and shipping documentation. The position requires frequent interaction with internal teams and external suppliers to coordinate material flow, resolve shortages, and support outside processing activities. The environment emphasizes accuracy, documentation control, and adherence to established procedures, with a culture that values urgency, collaboration, and continuous support of efficient production operations.

This is a Contract position based out of Chatsworth, CA.

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $32.00/hr.

This is a fully onsite position in Chatsworth,CA.
