Job Title: Materials Specialist

Location: 180 1st Street, C-Port 2, Slip 2, Golden Meadow, LA, 70357

Duration: 12 months

PR: $25.00 - $30.00/hr on W2

Description:

Shift: M-F - 8-5

Skills: no previous experience, attention to detail, person will be cycle counting , picking, packing dry and liquid materials 

Position Purpose:

The Materials Specialist is responsible to execute warehouse activities within the assigned Division/location. They ensure adherence to company standards, applying good housekeeping practices, with a strong focus on safety and efficiency, ensuring goods are received, stored and issued to internal and external customers in a timely manner. They maintain inventory accuracy, both physically and in the warehouse management system and provide support on planning and stock replenishment activities.

Activities:

• Perform Weekly to Bi-Weekly Physical Counts for all facilities in Port Fourchon
• Fill Out Live Excel Tracking File So Facility Can View Available Products
• Verifying Customer Orders Are Filled Correctly
• Manage Goods Packing
• Manage Goods Picking
• Manage Goods Reception
• Manage Stock Transfers
• Manage Good Issuance

Responsibilities:

• Ensure compliance with established procedures and company standards to maintain effective control over the physical product flow and storage for the warehouse and other inventory areas.
• Support operations by either supervising or directly executing warehouse processes (reception, issuance, counting, junking, etc.).
• Implement required documentation and labeling per company's standards and local requirements.
• Maintain timely input to the Warehouse Management System and ensure accurate stock transaction records.
• Proactively monitor and implement local strategies to reduce excess and ageing stock (specifically aiming for a reduction of DSOH and slow-moving indicators) for the assigned Divisions.
• Execute cycle count and periodical physical counts: plan creation/posting of adjustments/root cause and reporting per global procedure.
• Perform periodic reviews of the exception reports to maintain data integrity in the Warehouse Management System, including but not limited to discrepancies between systems, unit price, aged open/failed/pending for approval/unmatched transactions, and inactive parts.
• Promote, execute, and follow-up internal field material transfers, until final closure, ensuring quality controls are carried out and are compliant with the Division quality standards.
• Aim for continuous improvement and regular use of Lean tools such as 5S exercise to improve WH efficiency and reduce waste. Implement, as applicable, advanced techniques (e.g., Kitting, Kanban) to improve local materials management efficiency.
• Conduct periodic self-assessments and audits as dictated by the Schlumberger global processes.
