Position Summary The Director of Construction will lead the execution of large‑scale, high‑performance data center development projects from preconstruction through commissioning and handover. This role is responsible for ensuring projects are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and to the highest quality standards while aligning with strategic growth objectives. The Director will oversee internal teams, general contractors, consultants, and vendors, acting as a key leader across multiple concurrent developments in a fast‑paced, capital‑intensive environment. Key Responsibilities Lead end‑to‑end construction execution across a portfolio of hyperscale and colocation data center projects. Ensure successful delivery against cost, schedule, quality, and safety targets. Oversee project planning, phasing, procurement strategies, and execution methodologies. Drive consistency and standardization across multiple builds and regions. Collaborate with development, design, and engineering teams during site selection, feasibility, and design phases. Provide constructability input, cost planning, and risk identification. Lead contractor selection, bid evaluations, and contract negotiations. Team & Stakeholder Management Build, mentor, and manage high‑performing construction and project management teams. Serve as the primary interface with general contractors, consultants, and key suppliers. Partner with internal stakeholders including development, finance, operations, and executive leadership. Establish and monitor project budgets, often ranging from $100M to $1B plus programs. Track performance metrics and proactively mitigate risks to avoid schedule delays and cost overruns. Implement robust reporting frameworks and executive dashboards. Health, Safety & Compliance Champion a culture of zero incidents and best‑in‑class safety practices. Ensure compliance with all regulatory, environmental, and local authority requirements. Drive adherence to company construction standards and commissioning protocols. Quality & Commissioning Oversee quality control systems to ensure mission‑critical reliability standards are met. Coordinate integrated systems testing, commissioning, and turnover to operations. Ensure SLA and uptime requirements are achieved prior to go live. Manage strategic relationships with EPCs, contractors, and equipment suppliers. Address supply chain risks such as long‑lead equipment including generators, switchgear, and cooling systems. Optimize procurement strategies to align with fast‑track construction schedules. Qualifications & Experience Required Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field. 10 to 15+ years of construction leadership experience, with significant exposure to large‑scale mission‑critical or industrial projects. Proven experience delivering data centers, semiconductor facilities, pharmaceutical plants, or similar high‑tech infrastructure. Strong understanding of MEP systems including electrical distribution, HVAC, and backup power systems. Experience managing large capital programs exceeding $100M per project. Demonstrated leadership managing multidisciplinary teams and external partners. Preferred Direct experience with hyperscale or colocation data center developments. Experience working with major cloud providers such as AWS, Microsoft, or Google. Knowledge of commissioning processes including Level 1 through Level 5 testing. Professional certifications such as PMP, PE, or LEED. Strategic leadership and decision making. Advanced project and program management. Strong commercial and financial acumen. Stakeholder management and communication. Risk mitigation and problem solving. Ability to thrive in a fast‑paced, high‑growth environment.
